Stupid human tricks.

Pythons can make great pets - I have one, and he is fantastic. The failure rate here comes into play when people assume all pythons are the same. They're not. Burmese pythons are among the largest species in the herp world, have long life spans, and are not domesticated in any way.

If people thought it through, they might consider whether they want to be in their 50s wrangling a 20 foot snake and buying goats for food. That's just stupid.

The animal isn't the problem, it's the fucktard that doesn't remember it IS an animal.

What a horrible way for a kid to die. Really sad, parents should be held accountable for this type shit.

Iron Fist 07-02-2009 09:08 AM

Idiot parents... sometimes Mother Nature hands out tough lessons.

cosis 07-02-2009 10:06 AM

who would keep a python around with small children? Just asking to something bad to happen

GatorB 07-02-2009 11:15 AM

Any snake that is posionous or that can grow more than 3 feet should be banned. Now for those that are pro snake you may not say these type incicences are rare adn you may not care that most of these snakes end up in the wild and kill native species. But you SHOULD care that because of that Florida spends MILLIONS of taxpayer moey YIUR money if you live in florida hunting down and killing these guys. So if for no other reason than saving yourself money you should be for a ban. Now if you're the kind that doesn't care about wasting your money on things you shouldn't have to that produce any return then you can't be helped.

czarina 07-02-2009 11:31 AM

stupid parents, what on earth were they thinking?

I seriously doubt that millions of taxpayer money is being spent on eradicating pythons in Florida. It doesn't take any special equipment to catch them. Just a couple experienced Fish and Wildlife officers with decent boots, sure hands, a bit of rope a burlap sack and a vehicle to transport them. Unless a Wildlife officer makes about $200,000 a year I would say your figures are way off.

While the pythons are thriving in the Everglades it's the Iguanas that have turned out to be the real pests as they have taken over south Florida.

wow, very sad

Um 150,000 pythons are suspected to be in the everglades. Yes $200K and 2 guys can cover that.

They also said the boyfriend had lost his own daughter a few years ago to spinal meningitis.

The family is just about how GatorB described and officers found drugs in the home
during their investigation. Sounds like the perfect recipe for a disaster :(

Yea I figured the guy will be typical white trailer trash and the mother would be the typical tramp stamp ho. I haven't seen any pics yet, but that's what I'm betting on.

Last time I heard they had two guys and a beagle that could sniff them out. Hardly a multi million dollar operation.

Exactly. Anyone that thinks they can secure an animal in a cage with a piece of cloth and a rope is obviously NOT a responsible pet owner no matter what the pet is.

This is an old thread but just to update the couple responsible for this tragedy was just found guilty a few minutes ago in court. At least Florida got one right for a change.

BUSHNELL, Fla. -- Jurors found a couple guilty Thursday of manslaughter, third-degree murder and child neglect in connection with the death of a 2-year-old.

_Richard_ 07-14-2011 04:24 PM

wow third degree murder.. that's a big stretch

beerptrol 07-14-2011 05:12 PM

poor kid

I was at a graduation party and some guy was walking around with a 2 ft python. He asked me if I wanted to hold it and I said no thanks. He goes why not? You afraid of snakes. I said no I actually like snakes, but I don't want to feed the ego of a douche bag who feels the need to own and walk around with one on their neck.

Best-In-BC 07-14-2011 06:22 PM

I owned a Nile Monitor, soon as I found out I was having a kid I got rid of it

bronco67 07-14-2011 06:48 PM

of course, it happened in Florida.
