Truer words were never spoken.

In fact I'll add that (I have no idea why this is but...) so many people who get dogs as pets seem to have absolutely NO clue in their head about how to raise or train them. Then when the dog behaves badly all they do is yell at them. If people would just take the time to learn how to train their dogs properly and also make sure they are safely secured when in the car, and not left in a hot car ever, there would be a lot fewer dog bite incidents (training takes care of that), fewer dogs getting hit by cars (again, training), less dogs dying of heat exhaustion in parked vehicles or dogs flying through front windshields of cars because they weren't offered some protection in the seat they're in.

It's really not that difficult to train a dog and learn how to look after it properly but many owners would rather wallow in their ignorance and remain lazy and stupid, leave their dog in unsafe surroundings whenever they please, and yell at their pup like a mindless idiot until it hopefully learns on it's own...which it won't.

There, I said it.

Can you tell that stupid owners of pets are one of my pet peeves?

and here I feel bad for my cats when I leave the house and turn the AC to 83

on behalf of these dogs... "Woof woof, lick lick..thank you for saving me from my stupid asshat of an owner"

i hate when i see this, me not being a pet owner still cant understand why people would do this.....i can understand 5-15mins if you leave the windows cracked or as mentioned the a/c running (afterall i agree, who is going to try anything with a big dog in the car staring at you)...but another thing that i cant understand and this is to small dog owners...why in the hell would you drive while letting your dog stand on your lap??? forget the fact that dogs will jump around and possible hit your steering wheel...what if you do get in an accident and the air bag deploys...youd be doing a face plant into your dog....

awesome job PK and glad you didnt just walk away saying "poor dogs"...owner deserves whatever gets thrown at him

right on.. you go girl

Some people shouldn't own pets. Not at all. They simply don't know what's necessary for them at the most basic level. Food and water.

i know most dont think about it, but please, research how many dogs die from people slamming on brakes, having a dog in front seat without seat belt is just as dangerous as leaving them in car, if not more.

i just watched dog owner fly by me with dog hanging head out window, if they hit brakes, dog will be headless, cut off by window.

Where did I say I let the dog run around the car wild while I am driving? I said I don't leave her in the car alone ever.

So.. we're having a heatwave in Seattle. Hit a new record high today at 103 degrees.

I'm running errands this afternoon..parked in partial shade next to an SUV similar to mine, ran into the store and game back out to hear whining. I realized that it was a dog in the vehicle next to mine. I couldn't believe it. I stood up on my running board and peek through the crack in their rear seat window to see not one but two dogs.. a husky and a huge akita. Both of them looked very distressed. The akita's tongue was so dry it looked cracked.

I went into the store and they called over the intercom, but no one responded. I called the police who in turned called the Humane Society. The cops couldn't stand it so they slimjimmed the car door and got the dogs out so they could take them inside one of the air conditioned stores and we gave them water. The akita had to be carried. Finally the humane society showed up. At the same time, the dogs' owner comes running screaming about why someone let his dogs out. Cops arrested him for animal cruelty and the dogs were taken to a local vets by animal control. Someone took the temp inside the car after they'd opened the door. It was over 115 degrees.. and that was in the shade. No telling how long the dogs had been inside before I got there.

I got a call tonight from the animal control officer wanting more info and was told that both of them were spending the night at the vets and would be held somewhere and very likely never released back to the owner.

I really wish they'd put the guy inside his car tomorrow and let him sit there all day with no water.

Thank You, for basically saving the dogs lives.

I hope they NEVER return to that fucking idiot who owned them before. I hate hearing stories like this. One was posted on here the other week of the cop who left his dog in the car and it died.

People who are so irresponsible should face jail IMO... :2 cents:

Good job - kudos for getting involved and not simply walking away from the animals like many people would these days.

You're right...people like that should never own pets.

Good for you and those dogs, PK!
