Sorry but retailers have this problem everyday in newspaper and circular advertising and never honor OBVIOUS mistakes.

.

Choopa Phil 08-12-2009 09:13 AM

I have screen shots of the site, they arent going to honor it just get over it people lol. Best buy would have to honor like 100,000 tv's that everyone rushed to the site to get.

They just showed on my local TV news a bunch of people waiting in line at Best Buy to dispute their purchase. They all had printed out their receipts and were holding the papers in their hand.

The reporter said that Best Buy would not be honoring the price as it was clearly a mistake and they have a disclaimer that eliminates any liability. One guy in line said he ordered four and paid for them with his credit card. When told he would not be getting the TVs at that price he said he would have his lawyer look at the matter.

It was a simple typo mistake and there is no way best buy and any intentions of selling that TV for that price. As a business owner myself it would be devastating for people to exploit an honest mistake like that so there's no way I could take advantage of someone else's mistake. Those that have no problem doing it are not much better than looters in my opinion.

MikeFold 08-12-2009 10:15 AM

Agreed. Errors and Omissions Excepted. Anyone trying to get around an obvious mistake is just being a cunt.

Juilan 08-12-2009 10:23 AM

Sorry guys they don't have to honor the mistake, most courts of law see this the same way they see advertising mistakes made in the print circulars.

Well they're going to have to issue a mass of refunds because my online banking shows that my card was charged. It doesn't say pending or anything...It has the name Best Buy on the charge plus their phone number.

Yes your card was charge instantly, but bestbuy will take their dear sweet time to give you, the money back. Up to four weeks as they will mail you a check.

I bought new PC there it would not boot, took it back, since the PC cost $1,799.99 it was Bestbuy policie to return the money buy check . It took just under 4 weeks.

Choopa Phil 08-12-2009 11:13 AM

i mean what did u guys think was really gunna happen? best buy gives away millions of samsung tv's for 10 bux?

Odd.
Last tuesday we returned 3 tv's we had purchased for the office, 4k and change, processed the refund at the store back on the card in 2 days

scoreman 08-12-2009 11:36 AM

I just love it how people get all righteous and shit because they cant get something for nearly free.

"im gonna have my lawyer look into it"

that shit always cracks me up bc you just know that joker doesnt have a lawyer.

It sorta reminds me of the emails customer service gets that say, "refund this right now or you will be hearing from my lawyer!"

If your refund was for a cash purchase over X amount they send you a check. This takes weeks to arrive.

PornMD 08-12-2009 11:47 AM

So those of you who run porn programs n whatnot trying to get this TV , if you had a glitch/typo/whatever that had your normal $40/mo membership site costing $0.40/mo and tons of people took advantage of it, you'd be "well okay, they got to it before I did, they're entitled to that price"? Not that it matters much anymore because tubes are giving your shit away for free anyways but still.

LOL people try to exploit a mistake, what? around here? you kidding right? no one here would do that... :winkwink:

If you popped onto Best Buy's Web site overnight that's the price you would have found instead of the actual price of $1,699.99. Word got around fast and the item became a hot-seller -- showing up as "sold out" by morning. Some customers commented about ordering several at that new low, low price.

But, alas, Best Buy replaced the missing digits -- adding another $1,690 to this seemingly amazing offer. And shortly thereafter, the TV and the comments apparently were pulled from the site altogether.

So what about all those people who ordered at the special price?

No dice. You're not getting the TV, not for that price.

"It was an unfortunate human error," Best Buy spokeswoman Susan Busch told WalletPop. "As you probably noted, the erroneous info was quickly taken down. We are not processing orders for the TV at that price. We apologize to our customers for any confusion or inconvenience caused by this pricing error."

Busch said she didn't know how long the erroneous price was online or how many orders were placed at that price.

It might seem unfair, but Best Buy and most online retailers have error policies buyers agree to (usually without reading the terms) before making a purchase.

Here's an excerpt of Best Buy's policy: "Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted and whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged."

Ok, so trying for 1 at that price seems like something that even "honest" people would do... who wouldn't want an almost freebie... but to order FORTY???? That's 100% pure greed.

missyouth 08-12-2009 12:34 PM

hehe...would be sweet if u guys really got the tv.

WarChild 08-12-2009 12:36 PM

Some of you are so fucking stupid it just pains me. When you were placing your orders at best buy and agreed to their terms did you even read them?

Seriously stupid.

ProG 08-12-2009 12:39 PM

I think BestBuy should issue gift cards instead of refunds just to fuck with you guys. lol

Ron Bennett 08-12-2009 05:42 PM

Nothing new. Similar widely publicized pricing mistakes have occured numerous times dating way back the early days of ecommerce.

Such large pricing errors, with or without a disclaimer, are NOT enforceable.

A judge will rule, assuming the case isn't tossed at the getgo, that forcing such a sale would be an unconscionable; unreasonable.

IMHO, for a buyer to prevail against Best Buy they'd need to document that Best Buy had intentionally priced them for $9.99. Good luck with that

There was a widely publicized snafu regarding a newspaper give away (I think it was in NYC) a few years back in which thousands of people thought they'd won the grand prize. Needless to say, the newspaper didn't pay out - people complained, sued, etc but got nowhere.

Ron
