Seriously, Mac is the biggest fucking rip off ever. It does have some advantages like less likely to get viruses. But you are paying double for a basically a computer that looks more stylish and is easier to use.

The reason I bought one was so I would know more about AAPL products. Now I know why I shorted AAPL stock on Friday. :321GFY

complaints:
1. Cannot open up multiple windows of same thing. I have several gmail accounts and like to have them all open sometimes. On a shitty Mac I have to close out of one gmail account before I open another.

2. So much cool software does not have a version for the mac

3. ICQ work like shit when I downloaded it.

4. Double the fucking cost of a comparable windows machine :1orglaugh

5. The track pad is fucking dumb as shit. I know the proper finger sweeps in order to increase text but the hunk of shit I was sold increased the text size on the screen over and over even when I was just moving the cursor around. I was not in any way making the finger/thumb motion that is saved for changing text size . This was SO FUCKING ANOYING as every 15 minutes the god damed text would all of a sudden get really big for no freaking reason.

6. Ever notice the "Mac geniuses" that work at the store have absolutely no Mac product knowledge?

7. Some software I needed cost double than comparable software for a PC (different company made the software but had similar features)

8. Did I mention they cost fucking double????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9. The Mac mighty mouse is fucking garbage.

10. I hate the cult-like attitude that Mac people have. You can tell a person who uses a Dell that you don't like the company and they will not really give a shit. People who use PCs have better things to do with their time than worship their overpriced dumbed down trendy computer.

11. Often when I try to click out of a screen I have to click like 5 times to get the thing to close. I have the point of the cursor directly over the red circle when I do this. WTF?????????

...Your a fucking idiot, why are you here surfer?

My online profits were in the millions by 2004 and then I retired for a few years and just managed my investments. Ok I guess I am a surfer now. But I am building 2 sites now so soon I won't be a lowly surfer after that.

I'm not going to spend my time reading any more of this boring fucking thread, but how stupid do you have to be to not be able to install flash on a new mac.

thread starter = fail at life

and I don't even like macs

Very astute observation. Almost no question that this Joe King character is not in the industry.

.....So sure, we both get the same amount of money.

- You go buy the econosucksballsbrand mother board for $79.99.
- You go buy the low end Intel Quad Core for $380.

- I buy the top of the line Intel Server mother board for $599.99.
- I buy the high end Xenon Quad Core for $980.

Now, you come back saying you built a 3.0Ghz quad core Intel machine for only $460.
I come back and say I built a 3.0Ghz quad core Intel machine for $1,580.

You try to claim you built the same machine for a third of the price. Which is laughable, like all these debates. There is no price difference between a mac and a pc. A mac is built on pc hardware so there's really no debate at all. When people TRY to debate it, they debate by comparing utter piece of shit computers (like cheap model dells) to quality computers (like top model macs).

Anyone who builds their own computers and actually understands hardware components knows this.

Universal internet fact #1: People who actually know things make the internet boring.

Lets see whos computer wins in benchmarks..

The truth is Macs are more expensive.. Dont know why you guys are arguing it...

If you know how to build a PC, you could build a stable windows pc for a shit load less, and its more customizable too...

I can swap memory in and out, change video cards, motherboards, add new pci cards, etc...

Good luck doing that with your mac :error

Go to a file sharing site to download a movie, some music or porn and tell me how long it takes before you get a virus or tons of spyware on your PC. I give you about 2 weeks. I have been downloading files for over 2 years virus free....

Good luck doing that on your PC :error

BTW you idiots, I have a couple of the biggest players in this biz on ICQ so as long as that is the case I will fucking use ICQ all day long.:321GFY

Of course you were, assbag. Stand back as we all believe your horseshit and piss all over ourselves out of jealousy. All self made millionaires spend Saturday night on GFY talking about how they are about to rebuild their fortunes.

Socks 09-20-2009 03:31 AM

I used a mac recently and one thing that annoyed me was that I clicked stuff, the cursor was directly pointed on what I was clicking, and it didn't register the click. It was almost like the cursor had it's point in the middle of the cursor, rather than at the tip.

Other than that I figured out how to do everything I wanted to do really easily, with really no extra effort. Every time I figured something out it seemed easy and logical. Even setting it up to use an external NTFS HD I brought was simple enough. Had no idea I would be able to read it and not write to it without a driver. Seemed strange that wasn't part of the OS though.

[db] 09-20-2009 03:33 AM

Update: Self made millionaires who like to brag on message boards also often complain that $4000 is too much for a computer so they have to return it.

Don't worry, you will certainly "save" yourself and come out looking like the "industry player" that you are.

Luckily for you, 9,500 more posts and your sig will be worth $50/year.

Don't try to scam anyone though, we'll be watching. Most liars like yourself try to scam, others are just creepy loners with no friends. Just don't post any pictures of your Ferrari, please. Been there.

No Ferraris for me, I ride my bikes everywhere I go. If I don't ride my bikes I ride in my truck. If I sell all my vehicles I could get a decent Ferrari but then how much fun would that be having to drive slow over the fucked up LA roads so I do not bottom out?

Here are 80 ounces of gold bars/Eagles/Krugerands, 9.5k in travelers checks, on top of a macbook pro on top of one of my babies. I was going to include my left nut on top of all of this but could not get the shot. LOL!

Fact: go into any real recording studio in Los Angeles and you better know your way around a mac or you are not getting the engineering job.

Sure you can sit at home and think you are making the greatest concept album of all time with your acoustic guitar a mic and some free multitrack software, on your pc, but professional audio recording studios use macs and pro tools, period. Been in enough LA studios to shoot this crap down. Ive also sat in on prolly a hundred recording sessions in some of the top studios in LA from Rumbo Recorders to where tool records at Larrabee studios (i lived a block from them in the Valley) and where Slayer recorded at Track Record!

You are confusing pro audio with consumer computer use, big difference. Apples and oranges. No pun intended.

Thanks for telling me about recording studios since I am in one every week or so here in one of the biggest cities for music recording in the country and know 5 of the top producers in town, and have been at the biggest studios in town. Ill take your advice under advisement though. If you want to talk about non country music I talk quite a bit to this guy that was sort of involved in Stone Temple pilots, and some Velvet revolver group that signed one of my good friends to his label.. but again Im sure since you lived in L.A. at some point and sat in on some sessions you know all about it. Ill be glad to pass your advice along. Yes a lot of them use macs, but pro tools is for both mac and pc these days. I also do a lot of recording out of my studio here for other songwriters, but now I am worried if they know my computer isn't a mac they will stop wanting me to record their demo cds.... I better run out and buy a mac and get a lifetime pass to starbucks...... People care about the final product. The last 2 starwars movie soundtracks were done on GASP a PC using Steinberg Nuendo. Which is what I used for years. I just recently switched to Propellerhead Reason Record as I was on the beta testing team and I am unlikely to use anything else for a long time. And I use it on a GASP pc. lol

You arent a professional recording engineer though, you sit at home and think you are, big difference. I am only speaking from my own experience as an intern of some top producers. I interned under marc Bingham at Boiler Room Studios (he did REM albums)

Wasnt trying to compare cock sizes just stating the facts about the studios I have spent a lot of time in and have friends who engineer there.

Blah blah blah, as I said, go to LA and try to get an engineer job at a studio and tell them you do not know mac and have no experience with them and are actually "anti mac" LOL see how much they laugh at you... LOL

the only thing matters is yellow...

Fletch XXX 09-20-2009 06:29 AM

oh and nice try on the "Star Wars soundtrack" line...

Abbey Road Studios (where John Williams did the music, uses macs, you can even see the mac/apple logos in the control room photos on their site LOL

http://www.abbeyroad.com/studios/studio1/control-room/

multiple control room photos show apple logos

just like every other major recording studio in the world.

Not sure why you get so upset when I post to you, cant you just discuss something without getting sand in your vagina to the point you type out a big post, edit it out and then retort with this? You mde a post about not needing a mac to do music, and that was simply confusing consumer based recording (what you do) with pro audio (major studios) I already showed you Abbey Road uses macs... do not compare consumer stuff with what a pro uses/does.

The facts are simple, if you plan on working in a major recording studio you had better know mac, this is not a contest between you and I, it was about studios who use macs.

I know you have some ill feelings towards me for pointing out facts, but really, your statements above look childish when in light of the subject matter.

As I said, go to studio and boast about your "anti-mac" feelings, id love to sit in on it. :1orglaugh

So I looked up some big studios in Nashville, like where Elvis recorded LOL

http://www.houseofdavidstudio.com/gear.html

Mac Pro quad-core 2.6 Ghz Intel Xeon w/5 gigs of RAM running ProTools 7.3.1

http://www.oceanwaystudios.com/studios.html

ProTools HD 3 System with w/ 40 ins/ 48 outs with a Mac Pro with dual

What you do in your bedroom has NOTHING to do with what pros use in studios ;)

For most of us, the average PC is 'more' than we need. For my family, it's more than they need.

Even myself, I have a big PC, but it's more because I can have it, rather than a need.

I can build twice the Win PC power for the price of a Mac. From a desktop to laptops, I hand build them for easily half the cost. Allowing me to bump the video, monitors, and other fun stuff.

But.. if I want to edit Video, I'm sorry...I gota go with Mac. It kills a Windows so bad, it's so simple, fast, it does everything and it comes with the Machine.

I love my PC's but Kristins Mac owns the Video creating ability and my PC absolutely dominates her Mac in all around speed

So, get the Puter you need, and not based on hype. If you're going to creating nice video/audio, go with a Mac. It's a 'good skill' to have too. If not, save the money and go with a PC.

Simple, smart, business choice.. that's all that is required.

.

Exactly, I use both pc and mac.

Same is said of when doing music recording, you go with a mac, it can handle the multi track audio better than any pc can. And all the pros know it. As it is in every major studio in the world. Nothing sweeter than macs for pro audio.

K, its Sunday morning, done here, enjoy your day everyone, not sure why people cant just discuss something without trying to insult others, but thats usually what people do when they have nothing else to grasp on their way down.
