100 dudes who love Soccer

ProG 06-11-2010 11:18 AM

Soccer is even boring to complain about. Baseball is probably worse than soccer. Basketball is nothing but a bunch of acting for fouls. Football is going to shit because the referee can change an entire game with one call (seems to be at least 3 games a year now that are false wins), and Tom Brady can make up whatever rules he wants.

Overall most sports are boring these days...

+1 for soccer is boring

SykkBoy 06-11-2010 11:34 AM

I find soccer as boring as Europeans find baseball...

to me, soccer would be more exciting if there were landmines on the field or something...

I must also say, I'm actually a bit of a fan of soccer hooligans...they crack me up...

How complicated is it?

Hey Jimmy, you never got back to me on this one. What makes complicated sports "better" than simple ones? I am at a loss.

Hockey is right on the money. Football has way too many breaks.

Ahh good old Jimmy, the moment he comes under any sort of pressure, out come the swear words and negative insults.

You have a hard time structuring an argument don't you mate? Intelligent discussion is not really your thing i've gathered.

to be honest, I LOVED football, now I only follow World Cup and maybe some finals, it's quite boring for me nowadays (although I love to play it). But seriously, comparing football to "girly-rugby" or baseball in terms of boredom.... come on, there's nothing more boring that baseball ( I swear people dies of boredom) and "rugby for pansy girls in armor" is very close to it: run 10 foot. stop. group hug. change the entire team. run another 10 foot. stop. group hug. change the entire team. run another 10 foot (wait, now they're going the opposite direction!). stop. group hug. change the entire team.............................................. ....... eventually some one will show amazing skills as in.... putting a ball on the floor. Yipee... :sleep:sleep:sleep

Basketball FTW!!!! :thumbsup

Regarding the ones I've SEEN playing (I'm 24yo), I'd say:
- Zidane
- Ronaldo

Here's my thoughts...whether it's soccer, golf, tennis, baseball, football, even hockey or curling - when it's a major event in the sport and it's the "best of the best" playing, it's ALWAYS interesting. Some more than others of course, but as much as I can't really stand to watch soccer normally, having watched some of the World Cup last time, I'll be watching a lot more of it this time because I did find it entertaining.

I had no idea who Messi was last time and whenever he was playing he was fucking EVERYWHERE on the field and doing all sorts of rad plays and I was going "damn, this dude fucking rocks". Come to find out he's regarded as one of if not THE best player in the world. So if anything I'll make sure to watch the games he's in.

Same with golf...I watch it mainly to watch Phil Mickelson, end of story...I could care less about most of the rest, even Tiger Woods most of the time bores me, but I love watching the major events and even some of the minor events because Phil is always entertaining to watch because he plays it like the rest of us would play it on a video game. Barely any space between a couple trees in your way? Fucking try to hit through them anyways and somehow slice it towards the hole, why not?

Bottom line, there's entertainment in ANY sport if you look hard enough.

Very well said....

I believe all sports has it own value of entertainment and skills involved.

But to actually judge football shitty is really not fair. I think most of the people who hates football never tried juggling or dribble a football. Using JUST your legs to make a ball "stick like a glue" to your feet requires years of practice. Using you legs to control objects is not our first nature compared to using our hands.

I am not saying hitting a homer or making a slam dunk is easy.....but I think is simply easier to pick up sports that uses hands.

As for entertainment value, everybody is entitle to their own opinion...just like making money in porn....everybody has their own favorite niche. Can we claim that BDSM is more of a manly choice due to all the gadgets and torture that goes with it?

So bottom line is, everybody has their own preferences just like about any other things. You can call football the lamest sports in the world but just don't feel disappointed when people don't agree with you.

But one thing for sure, most of the people who hates certain things is due to ignorance. I am guilty of becoming a prick once for condemning stuff that I actually don't understand. I used to think ballroom dancing is dumb and hip hop is way cooler...lol

DaLord 06-11-2010 04:14 PM

Oh and another thing... why don't they send women's beach volley more often?

scarlettcontent 06-11-2010 04:56 PM

You're actually calling soccer one of the most violent sports? A sport where they fall down and cry if someone even comes within a foot of them? You're kidding, right?

Why 06-11-2010 06:21 PM

thats because soccer IS boring, if your not playing, but at least its not as boring to watch as golf!

No that would be the fans.
Going after the refs for a call they didn't like. Fans become violent with rival teams fans and being trampled to death at the stadium etc.

What's a paradox is that there are actually more serous injuries in soccer than in Rugby for example.

Cause Rugby or any full contact sport is played straight up, you get your nose broken or something but everything is full contact and it's a part of the game. While soccer it's just attacks from behind in full speed when you don't expect anything.

For example Marco Van Basten is one of the players that had to stop his career at 30 because of this.

hzoltan 06-17-2010 12:56 AM

do tricks like these and say it's an idiots game:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=E3tMIpgw52A

When I rarely watch an american football game I can only think of that Al Pacino movie, with all the dumb players in it.
and baseball is actually the most boring "sport" ever. stand, hit, run. bravo!

Watch futsal which has more technique in the game.
futsal
And let us soccer lovers know when you play FOOTball with your feet, not with an egg in the hand :)
Go Denmark!

EthnicLover 06-17-2010 09:47 AM

Soccer is boring to watch if you never played or played and were not very good at it. The action is not the one or two goals in a game but the passing, jukes, ball control etc. in between the few goals. This rational applies to actually playing the sport too.

Argos88 06-17-2010 10:02 AM

soccer rocks... FOOTBALL... not soccer..

NFL is fucking BORING...
