It is a myth, that Americans aren't interested in soccer.

Do you have any age breakdowns for this? I say this because youth soccer is huge in this country. It seems like a ton of kids play youth soccer up until around 7th-8th grade then they branch off and start playing other sports and while soccer is still around for older kids it becomes a lot less popular.

Any sport can be boring if the teams are playing like crap. It's about the match and how important it is. A playoff game will always be better than a regular season game.

There's a big difference between participating and watching. I mean, almost all of us played tether ball or even tag ball back in elementary. Those aren't big spectator sports.

That was participating in organized league play. Which too, I think makes the difference :winkwink:

I'm going to look for sure. I play in an organized indoor league in the winter and it's a pretty big to do here...adult 25 and up. The league is made of of two groups each group with 15 teams of 10.

I don't think "boredom" is the real reason why football/soccer didn't take off in the US. Must be something else.

Sports in order of most boring to least: (IMO)

1. Golf
2. Soccer
3. Baseball
4. Hockey
5. Football
6. Basketball

im betting that 16 million of them are under the age of 15 though. big difference... We coined the phrase "soccer mom" for a reason. :2 cents:

Soccer also seems like a sport any kid can play, where as football, baseball and basketball they need to have a skill. baseball if you can't hit the ball you don't play. Basketball if you can't shoot the ball you don't play. Football every position is a skill position for the most part and you need to have size. Soccer, if you can't run and kick a ball then you are retarded.

I can't watch baseball games, like everyone says, the games are boring is hell, plus with the amount of games they play, watching one game really has no significance if a team wins or loses when they play 162 games in a season.

Soccer rocks...

i really don't understand why some people watch american football (AFL)... THAT's fucking boring... seriously.

they play 20 secs, then stop the game for 5 minutes.... play 10 secs, stop the game for 4 more minutes to drink a gatorade and sell ads... they also use those huge protectors... man, its rugby, but with protectors! It's basically RUGBY for PUSSIES.

its for sure a multi millionaire marketing game... but boring as hell for the spectator.

And yes, quote all you want, I don't care, dude.
