Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm going to give the cop the benefit of the doubt on this one. He was probably driving by heading out on his shift and saw someone peering through the glass of a closed store, and if I was a cop, I might have checked it out too.

When you live in a society where so many people own (and carry) a loaded handgun on their body because the constitution says they can, you're gonna have a police force that take their jobs REAL seriously.

What is that, a webmaster thing? I never go to those things. I went to Vegas InterNext in '03 & '04 but that was it. I don't know what I was expecting, but it was something I never cared to repeat.

fricken ganja is the right stuff every time. Feel like I got a brand new spine right now. (I have some kind of chronic hardcore arthritis in my hands & spine and some of the vertebra in my neck are fused).

Cops can be retarded. One time when I was working corporate there was a blizzard and the only way I could get in was by catching a ride with a neighbor -- he left at 3 AM so I opted to go in at 3 AM. It turns out that my access card that was supposed to grant me 24 hour access had restricted hours. My ride left and I was freezing. I tried one of the warehouse doors and one of the idiots left it unlocked and un-alarmed.

I walked through to the office which was never locked (the warehouse to office interior door) but on a separate zone and the alarm goes of. I go outside and wait for the police. I explain what happened, showed them my access card and how it was recognized but restricted. Showed them my business card, the GM's business card and explained how I had to come in early because of the blizzard if I wanted in at all and that I was supposed to have unrestricted access.

Out came the guns -- one stayed on me while the other cop scoured the place with his drawn.

It all ended peacefully with some phone calls from the alarm company to the GM.

Yikes! Yeah, why the hell are they so damn jumpy?

There was some interesting news here last night... I guess, like everywhere else, the City of Oakland is broke and saying they're about to cut 200 police officers. That's only going to make the remaining ones even more jumpy. (I don't live in Oakland, but.... it's close.)

It is the show of force that drove me nuts. They already talk in a stern voice and have control of the situation. In my case there were two cops that came in separate patrol cars. I am about one of the most innocent looking mother fuckers out there and it was obvious I wasn't going to make any sudden moves. I was WAITING for the cops and it should have been pretty damn obvious it was a snafu.

The way they didn't want to believe me and felt I was a threat standing alone at 3 AM with a smile on my face and shaking my head in shame pissed me off.

Just like your attempt at humor. I did the same thing. Criminals don't do that!

That's ridiculous, and I have no doubt that it was because of the way you look.

What really gets me is having to deal with cops where I live. I live in a condo with rent-a-cop security guards. You go down to the pool, spa, or ice machine and these guys come up to you and act like you're a suspect in some crime. If you go out to the store late at night they'll fucking question you about it the next day like you owe them some explanation for wanting a midnight snack. They REALLY have it out for my boyfriend (no doubt because of his looks) and have even taken to questioning me about where he is when he's not with me.

It's starting to get to the point where I'm going to have to go complain to the property management staff about these douche nozzles for the second time just to be left alone in what is essentially an extension of my own home. I mean, who wants to be harassed in their own pool or walking to their car?

It would be a bad thing if a cop tazed the wrong person.
I think there is a rule to taze someone who is aggressive, but not passive.

You need to file the complaint with the association... if they don't appear that they will do anything about it, threaten to foreclose your condo. That normally snaps'em straight.

Then tell the security guards to piss off and leave you and your visitors alone before you file civil complaints against the security guard and association. It's so simple, you just fill out some form and file them at the court house, super easy, just make sure you keep records that you tried a different way first.

It's kind of a weird situation actually. It seems a lot more overt when typed out than it is in reality. After my first complaint, the main officer I have a problem with dropped the condescending sounding "young lady" he used to address me with and started trying to disguise his nosiness as "friendliness." I have no doubt in my mind that he will play off any complaint as me being over sensitive and say that he's just trying to be friendly with the residents.

Luckily, I have connects both on the condo board and the local PD. If he doesn't cool his jets with my next complaint, he's going to get shit from both angles.

Yes most break ins happen 30 seconds before the store opens. Cops are just plain stupid!

I've had some bad experiences with cops down here. And I am a small chick with hardly any tattoos, not even a speeding ticket on my record. Some of them are just straight up bad people and shouldn't be cops.

Lets all ban together and kill as many cops we can before they take us out!

only way to take bad cops down is people need to make complaints

that guy threatened you for standing on public property.. unless there is a report of be's or robbery perpetrated by a white tattooed fellow, there is only one person breaking the law in that situation

Yeah, let's hope not. But I am not responsible for his actions. If he fucks up out there with someone else, he'll have to deal with it. I learned a few years back, the hard way, I stay away from the police at all costs. I will never walk into a police station under my own power.

Is there a certain day that's good for you? I won't be staying there in a hotel or anything since I live close. I'll just pop in for a day or something.
