DEA is told to no longer enforce.

It's a law that's on it's way out. It's just a matter of time.

I agree. It may not pass in November but even if it fails it will be very close and it is only a matter of time until some state fully legalizes it. If that state pulls it off, survives the inevitable lawsuits and shows that they can actually profit from it, more states will follow like ducks in a row and eventually so will the feds.

The Porn Nerd 06-21-2010 07:23 PM

The problem is no matter how "legal" the law in Cali says it is the FEDS can come right in and just stomp on your shit any fucking time it wants. With this Supreme Court there's no way in hell it's ever going to be legal in America as a whole. Too much money in both fighting the (bad) fight against weed/illegal drugs and the pharmaceutical companies will want you to buy THEIR synthetic weed (cabanoids) which is on the way (already being tested in England).

Maybe in 100 years.

Whatever side of the issue you might be on, we all have to admit that full legalization of Marijuana in California is/would be a significant game changer. The first question that comes to my mind is, won't the surrounding states now have to defend their borders with California? People traveling to and from, subject to search at the borders? At what stage do they admit the War On Drugs is a lost cause?

The next question is, if it's fully legalized for anyone over the age of 21, what then happens to the 'Medical Marijuana' structure that is already in place? Do the dispensaries simply convert to a convenience store?

Will California be isolated from the rest of the US at its borders or does the rest of the country follow suit and legalize?

Thoughts? :rasta

i think it should be legal but at the same time will it be more in cost because of them being able to tax it at that point an will it be as good as it is now?????

Well dont make it legal just stop arresting and activity going after pot users.

This wont be the end of the war on drugs. The war on drugs keeps a lot of Washington bureaucrats employed, gives America a reason to meddle in other countries and lets not forget keeping prisons filled with non violent drug offenders is good business and keeps those donations coming to politicians.

1) The Cal Gov will save millions of $.
2) Police no longer need to tie up recourses.
3) The Tax will fix the deficit.
4) Most people will be better off.
5) Mental health problems will go up drastically and alot of the new tax needs to be put back into Mental health.

Those numbers are changing quickly and dramatically. Acceptance of MJ has skyrocketed and will continue to do so as the older generations die out. The younger generations have no such delusions that mj is as harmful as coke or heroin. Most of the younger generations anyway.

Obviously Morphine is a different class of substance altogether and has completely different effects. It's also manufactured by humans. Marijuana is a plant. There are no "happy medical morphia" clinics because it is controlled and regulated, as it should be. What, do you think all pharmaceuticals should be widely available to anyone at any time like shampoo or something? There has to be regulation and control of certain substances that we humans have created in labs. No question.

Marijuana is a plant. I've said it a million times, but it never sinks in. It is a plant.

Regulate and control it like alcohol if you must, but putting people in prison for this shit must end.

morphine is natural. :2 cents:

The war on drugs is a war on the citizens of this country. Sad, but true that we are enemy combatants in this pointless endeavor.

If you dont believe long term use of MJ causes and mental health problems then it's pointless arguing with you.

Not at all in moderation it's not a problem but full time and heavy use leads to brain damage

Opium is natural. They have to extract the morphine from the opium, so not that natural. Is coke natural?

That would mean a genocide of about 95 pct. of population, we all fit in the moron category one or another way

Important basis of politics is that if there were no morons no one could elect other morons into the office

Smoking weed is not exactly bright either..

too many people are making big bucks because it's still illegal. I doubt it will happen any time soon

Those plants must be processed to create those drugs. Marijuana needs no processing. That was my point.

But hey... I'm not for the banning of anything that grows naturally, so yeah, poppies should be perfectly legal as well. If criminalizing the processing of poppies into Heroin needs to be illegal, then that's a fight the junkies can take up. I'm not interested in junk.

I dont think it will happen this year. The vote is close but not close enough.
CA needs to fix its budget problems first and the tax from MJ is not enought to help.
