their all pretty hysterical, one of my faves is animal crackers...hail fredonia!

total geniuses in comedy and music.

there was a story (70s or 80s) about a guy who was dying of cancer and he was severely depressed so he went to a hotel with his vhs player and most of the marx bros movies. He came out of his depression and beat the cancer, claiming the marx brothers saved his life.

no one has ever managed to repeat that kind of comedy ever imo.

Because it is hot and I had a brain melt because Passport is one of my favourite films ever. It is just so very wonderfully British. They are remaking it apparently..I worry.

Calm down.

I think you should calm down content thief. Acting like you do nothing wrong.

Making a post to people on their threads, I should not need to read your comments to me, you childish weasel.

I should be angry with the immature, childish & disgusting comments made by yourself, towards my family on your fake twitter profile. But Im not!
I know your parents have irresponsibly bought an attention seeking ponce into the world & you cannot help your mentality.

Steal my content, use my content without our permission but leave your comments to me at the door. I do not want to see them. :2 cents:

Gary, this is a thread about B&W movies. You said at the start you don't like them. So why are you still here?

Go back to your very own Damian Is A Cunt thread if you want to vent. Don't ruin Sarah's good idea for a thread with your crazy ranting.

Pretty cool

I actually used to watch Charlie Chaplin, Harold Loyd, Frigo, Laurel and Hardy as a kid on the communist TV.

There was a program every Sunday, 60 minutes with the old school comedy, I remember that like yesterday.

They're releasing their DVD's now, so of course I'm buying.

Gotta get me some Marx brothers also

Now I'm totally sure that much of my natural sarcasm comes from the British culture.

This is precisely what I was about to say.

:)

forgot about those classics! The Haunting is one of those great horror movies that is pure atmosphere. They never show anything but its really effective.

Also - The original Invasion Of The Body Snatchers:thumbsup

And The Innocents based on the book Turn Of The Screw. It has a scene of a ghost standing in the distance across a lake and I swear thats where Black Sabbath got their inspiration for the album cover-

To that I must add The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

And The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

And the original King Kong.

Definitely the golden age of horror/sci-fi

fuck all this fancy CGI/computer enhanced stuff of today...I love the old cheesy practical effects and silly rubber suits.

The other day, I picked up this collection from BestBuy
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Horror+C...or& lp=1&cp=1

Not really a bad flick ion the bunch....

rogueteens 07-09-2010 10:51 AM

I also hate the CGI bullshit, it's so unnatural, all you need is to play with attention, tension, timing and NOT idiotic effects.

Like I saw some CGI movie with my brother in the cinema, the plot was so bad that a 10 year old would go insane, but the effects and gore was like 18+ and puking, I couldn't believe anyone in this world can actually take it seriously.

And the main hero was so "cute" that only Juicy could compete with him.

quiet 07-09-2010 11:08 AM

fuck cgi, troll two all the way.

"They're eating here...then they are going to eat me...ohh myy Godddd" haha, love that movie. There's a new documentary out called "Best Worst Movie" about the cult appeal of that movie.

Damn thats one hell of a collection, i have a similar one but only 25 and some are pretty lame.
But seeing that list I now need to add-
# Creature from the Haunted Sea (1961) - very funny Roger Corman horror comedy.
# Carnival of Souls (1962)
# The Last Man on Earth (1964) (this is the first version of "I Am Legend" which i would take any day over the Will Smith crap remake)

yes i am another one who says screw cgi, it still looks fake and it takes them millions to do it.
on the other hand, even tho i do like low budget cheap ass effects like It Conquered The World, there were many 50's films which still look great-
Forbidden Planet, Day The Earth Stood Still, alot of Harryhausen stop motion animation flicks are great. sure they may seem a little jerky in the motion, but still better than the uninspiring cgi effects i see today.

CDSmith 07-09-2010 11:50 AM

I remember seeing that movie as a kid on Super Chiller Theater and I couldn't sleep...such a creepy movie with amazing atmosphere...Herk Harvey just gave me the willies...the remake was a total piece of shit though...even beyond normal shitty remakes...
