Most of my tops are already included in this thread, but my #1 top Black and White I think would have to be L'avventura.
To me its the definition of "film"- the way Antonioni creates atmosphere and emotion through visuals. Its master craft. Its not for everyone, but for some of you mentioning films by directors like Jarmush I think this would fall into your taste range. If you like it and you want to keep on an Italian kick check out La Dolce Vita and 8 1/2 by Felini. Different pacing but great for different reasons. |

Shelly scoring again - no surprise I'm gonna bookmark this thread for tips Was about to drop a very vicious and nasty remark regarding "ArseWithClass" but I guess I'm growing up |
Its not Black and white but (Silent Movie) by Mel Brooks is one of mine for sure!

And I would be surprised if Metropolis wasn't on nearly everyone's top 10 b&w list. To this date no one has surpassed the effects used in the film. They work perfectly and every thing they did they had to invent. http://com123.files.wordpress.com/20...tropolis16.jpg compare that to modern effects. I Robot starring Will Smith for example. What a freaking joke. 100 million dollars for what? Crappy looking cgi robots, not to mention how badly they butchered Asimov's story. [/endrant] |
