ok, kids only 16 so i will only offer constructive things instead of being mean.
1- turn those vocals UP, i had to shake my nuts off with the bass to even hear him on the hook. i cant even tell you if his rhymes were good or not, i simply couldnt hear or make sense of them. 2- to whoever made the beats. Dont be afraid of sampling. THATS where all the dope sounds are. NOT on any keyboard. As for sampling rights and all that shit. Forget about it. Sample whatever you want and if you get rich off it, pay whoever you're sposed to pay THEN. |

On part 2, I think the same notes as above would most likely hold true. I can't wait for you guys to hear what he is writing on his originals that he is making all of the tracks for with no samples or anything used, they are far better and his own talents far exceed this, but that will happen when I put his system together. I do appreciate your criticisms though, honestly, that is what makes us stronger and I appreciate you stating your point without being mean about it. It was constructive and very well taken. So thank you for that. :thumbsup |
Constructive criticism from someone who has been singing for 19 years -
Turn the vocals up and the backing track down a little, if he's trying to show off vocals and not his beat making skill, he's negating the fact he can rap by drowning himself out. Take him to a speech therapist. I'm sure he can talk fine but when he raps it sounds like he mumbles and it's hard to understand what he's saying. I had to REALLY focus to hear and I still couldn't make half of it out. Enunciation will get him a lot farther if he's trying to go pro at this. Taking him to a speech therapist will make him learn how to properly say words, which will then translate into his music. I went into the studio my first time when I was 15 so I know the nerves involved. I will try to scrounge up the first CD my band recorded, it's pretty funny looking back on it. |
A little bit of a generic sound, but not bad at all for the genre. :thumbsup
He still needs to find his own unique voice, however he's off to a great start, and with his Dad there to mentor him, I'm sure he will continue developing. One important thing, before he publishes anything (music or lyrics), get it copyrighted - the only business dirtier than adult is the music biz... :2 cents: Tell your son good luck! :) ADG P.S. Damn, you live out in the sticks...I lived in Lexington for about a year, many years ago, and couldn't wait to get out of there, lol. Beautiful countryside, but I'm more of a big city and ocean kinda guy... :winkwink: |
Is your son Nick3131?

Hello Tam,
Some of the lyrics are inaudible and some lyrics I might have heard the wrong way. I will give you my interpretation of what I heard. Here it is: Rally Spradling Yippee I'm running like a marathon Imma do this right Imma run the gangs right Show you to the light I'll be dealing, I'll be mercy Then you come up on the mike It's like chicks want two I'll be cure bee shit Then the next thing you knew I put out a new hit Imma turn the universe Into a modern verse Show you new things that You thought you never saw on earth Imma run the bat gang, till the fucking sun burst Feel the lights flow out and I let the curtains grow Know what I'm about And I ain't about these hoes Nasty ass Mills and you never seen toads Cause I said i do it right And dead ain't right I'm a dude getting up Until I win this fight Courtesy like a marathon I pea slice Aragon I do it with no beats, no writing and I'm very own You can't judge me cause I'm untouchable Straight through the bushes, like I'm unquestionable All live and see, so you know I sit comfortable. Thanks, Fatfoo |

No.. lol Quote:
fatfoo, he has the lyrics written down somewhere, I'll see how close you are when I can get my hands on them. Like you, I was struggling to hear them too, which is one of the first things I told him. |
Sounds pretty good, I'd be proud too :)

Well done to him :) |
Production has great potential but I doubt he'll ever become a rapper.
|
Damn impressive.
His vocals were either not recorded well or were mixed bad. Sounds muffled. You have a talented kid. I expected something like this... |

They added "6 Deep" to their list, this one was done with a couple of friends of his tonight. I don't know that he'll ever be famous or an actual rapper, but he's working on it and he's doing something productive and not on the streets, so I am happy. ;) |
I liked it! Considering it's his 1st effort ...... I can see with more experience, vocal, and studio he has the potential to take it a long way! Thanks for sharing Tam! :thumbsup
|
I think it sounds like shit
|
one other thing, and this is a biggee.
DO NOT let this kid think he HAS to rap about the same bullshit everyone else does. if i hear one more middle class white kid rappin bout bitches, hoes, gangs, guns, rollin on dubs, slangin dope, or poppin mo in the club, i dont think i can hold it together anymore. the second you hear this kid spit some ignorant bullshit, nip it in the bud really quick. |
