The caffeine wakes you up. Most people I know (and I've know quite a few lol ) who blacked out did so from the alcohol. I drink Jaegar Bombs all the time (redbull and jaegar) and never "blacked out".

If anything they would be wide awake and drunk...and not even all that drunk since they would be sped up from the caffeine which counteracts the "downer" of the alcohol (the very reason people have used coffee and sodas to sober up for forever)

I know that if I fuck up and drink a little too much too early I always stop ordering alcohol and switch to coca-cola for a while to get some caffeine in me and to sober up a bit.

But I guess these bureaucrats in D.C. MUST have control over everything we do in our lives. :(

I think the bigger irony in their statement is that caffeine is an unsafe additive to alcoholic beverages. Like huh? Alcohol is perfectly safe...caffeine is the evildoer here, LOL. Cigarettes are awesome but holy fuck, pot is too dangerous to have freely legal! Lovely trends going on here.

Honestly...over the last few years I've been wondering when they were going to start labeling caffeine as "bad".

It's just as powerful a stimulant as ephedrine and even cocaine. But like alcohol and tobacco it's been a part of Western society for so long that it has escaped the govt. insanity.

I guess this is "step one" down the slippery slope for caffeine. Hell, they've gotten away with it with tobacco & alcohol as far as driving up the prices with "sin" taxes (direct taxation of the poor).

Exactly. I remember years ago before the whole Vodka Redbull thing started getting popular in the clubs up here in Canada, and before the huge "energy" drink fad swept through. This was back when the only way you could buy Redbull here was in a little brown bottle that looked like cough syrup and had no English on it. I was told way way back then, the only reason you couldn't get it was because it was terribly bad for you to mix with alcohol, and that there were distribution issues because of it. I don't know if there was any truth to that back then, but it was what I was told. Really blew my mind when I saw those Rockstar vodka drinks in the liquor stores.

Cup of Coffee has 90 - 150 milligrams of caffeine (try cuban coffee in Miami...it's like PURE caffeine sludge and wakes your ass UP!)

Four Loko? I have searched all over the internet and can't find the amount of caffeine that was in one.

Redbull, which is what I drink with a jaegarbomb, has 80 milligrams of caffeine in it.

ONE Vivarin pill has TWO HUNDRED milligrams of caffeine in it. I've seen people pop those all night long at work so they could stay awake and get things done. I've taken them many times over the years because I was in a band and we played every night. So if I was tired at the beginning of the night I'd take two or three Vivarin.

Before the federal govt. decided to ban ephedrine (mini thins that you bought at the seven-eleven over the counter), bodybuilders and people wanting to lose weight and gain muscle during their workouts did an "ECA Stack". Which is Epehdrine, Caffeine, & Aspirin which work synergistically together to burn fat.

This whole thing is horseshit and nothing more than another bureaucrat politician grandstanding and scaring people to show he is "looking out for them" so he can get their vote next election and continue milking the tax payer for his health care, salary, and graft and corruption.

I am not saying the government should be regulating any of this. Just saying there are reasons health professionals are saying to avoid this stuff. of course if you use hard drugs, who cares i guess but the average person who has no idea what they are putting in their body might want to know. banning it is too much but a warning label might be acceptable. i don't like coke, meth or any of that man made full of chemical shit (people on that shit annoy the hell out of me too, its like they just turn instantly stupid and hyper). i just smoke weed. i don't even drink coffee. if that makes you think im a "pointdexter", thats ok.

The issue is that it is an extraordinarily unhealthy product being marketed like it's fucking candy. Slap a warning label on them and be done with it. It's not like they're making it illegal to mix booze and energy drinks, and giving people criminl records, fines, or jail time for doing so.
