How Long do you thin you will Live? Afraid of dying?
ive had the un pleasurable experience of seeing some people close to me pass away or come very close to passing away in the last year..it has made me think about my own life and how long i wil be here..how my diet and excercise..or lack of effect my health..what i would do if i came down with a serious life threatening illness.what i want them to do with my bodyy when i die ..etc...not fun things to think about..but as the years go buy its something everyone has to eventually deal with?
does anyone have plans or thoughts on what they are going to do for Zer0 hour?:helpme |
I don't think about it much. I try to live a healthy life knowing I want to be around to see my son grow up and experience life.
|
Plans for what they are going to do? Most people do not have the opportunity to pick and choose like that.
|
I live a super clean and health life so I don’t stress at all about death. I have seen lots of family and friends pass over the years as it’s a part of life. I live every day to its fullest and appreciate everyone and everything.

I've had the pleasure of being diagnosed with a genetic condition with an median lifespan of 48. The problem is with advances in medicine I'm not so sure I can count on that number being accurate. I like knowing I have a very low chance of hitting old age, really have you seen old people their quality of life suck!!
Dying doesn't scare me at all, even pain can be managed most of the time. I'm terrified of being kept alive but not physically able to function, that does not seem like a good time. Put a bullet in my brain when my body won't let me walk and talk like normal. |
I'll die with a doob in one hand and a beer in the other,I don't want to live forever
|
I think the whole perspective on death changes when you have children.
|
I will live until I die, Then I don't care what happens... My wife gets a very nice seven figure check... :)

Men on my Dad's side of the family have a tendancy to die by age 65. Although my dad has change that in thepast few years. So being 35 now I guess I am little more then half way through my life.
I just accept it, I'm not afraid to die by age 65. |
There is nothing to fear because death does not exist. There is only infinity. When you die you realize you are just a consciousness looking in on itself. You as a person does not actually exist. You are apart of a collective consciousness. Do you really exist if you are imagined? i think not.
it is human nature to think of life and death. but our mere existence shows that only infinity exists. there is nothing to fear either because fear is something made up inside your own head. fear does not actually exist in actual reality. |

read into the teachings of Buddhism Illuminati Islam Hinduism is next, but it is pretty similar to Buddhists teachings as far as i know. with a combination of quantum physics. i am no expert but if you can step back and take each for a knowledge purpose rather then trying to find absolute meaning it is pretty interesting stuff. |
Yeah I'm really afraid of dying. But it's something you can do nothing about. So what's the point thinking about something that can't be changed..

A friend of mine with some really nasty health issues just recently bought himself a handgun. He's hoping he'll have enough sense not to use it too soon but his greatest fear is that he'll wait too long. |

1000 billion died before you. Not 1 has come back to complain about death.
Nothing to fear here, move on. Or pass on.. lol |
I had heart surgery 2 years ago. Ruined my whole morning but at least I now have a cool Krusty the Clown scar.
To all those that think clean living will help I say HAHAHAHAHA, had my first heart attack ON A RUNNING MACHINE. Never smoked, hardly drink. You will also die, and it's non negotiable and not always fair. No one sensible worries about dying. You're gone, you won't be giving a shit. Talk to any soldier and they all say the same thing. Dead is fine, if that's hows it gotta be, but seriously fucked up and incapable? THAT'S what you worry about. |
I died once, no biggy ...
|
I'm going to be a ghost.
|
the only thing i worry about is leaving behind everyone, droping dead one day or dying in a car accident with so many things left unsaid/undid. i don't think of it much but it does worry me. i don't want to lose out on the future ahead of me, whatever it may hold. i don't worry about dying when i'm old.

i never even thought of that. but now i can lie and say my name is from Metaphysics. :thumbsup |
My guess is ~50. no I'm not afraid.
|
I don't know how long, no I'm not afraid but do have a good Life Insurance policy so my family is taken care of if I do.
|
My father died when I was nine months old. Once my kid was born, I promised I would do my best to stay around a lot longer than my dad. Ten years later, so far so good. Otherwise, I don't think about it.
|
you can't plan most of time...
|
I'm not scared of death, but the pain and agony that is sometimes associated with it. Once I get older, I'll get something in place for euthanasia, for if and when the time comes. If I end up with some terminal illness, just kill me instead of leaving me rot on some shitty hospital bed in pain for 6 months.
Maybe I'll just rent a plane, and crash it into a mountain side when the time comes. Go out with a bang! :) |
Mostly people are afraid of growing old.. you don't have to dive in too deeply into getting to know gfy members to realize how petrified most of you are of growing old. Everyone talking about how they want to die young, all the people racing to post about end of the world scenarios and all the people who can't stop saying how things were better back when. :)

Give western philosophy a shot. They at least go through the effort of trying to explain their theories. Epistemology is a good thing. |
Afraid of dying ?? Nope...
|
I have lived with mind numbing pain...24/7...since '91 and not a day has gone by that I haven't thought about eating a bullet and ending the pain. I will welcome death without fear.
How much longer I will live I do not know...but I do know that pain has aged me beyond my years...and I do not know if I will not eat a bullet tomorrow...but it does appear that I will survive this day. |
Afraid of death? You bet... I almost died 2 weeks ago. I was snowboarding after a huge storm at Kirkwood. Got off chair 10 hiked out to the shoot's to the left past the cornice, and found my self suffocating under a few feet of snow after dropping in. Luckily I broke free just in time. It was a very scary experience. I'd rather break my legs then go through that again.
I can say for certain, I am terrified of death. There is way too much left for me to do, before I'm ready to part with this world. I don't think any of us can predict with any certainty how long we will live. Death is unpredictable. It could happen to any of us, at any time. So enjoy it while it lasts. |

what have you added to this thread? you pin pointed the only post that actually offers a view and somehow tried to make yourself sound smart. well you do not. infinity of consciousness is my explanation but you wouldn't understand. The fact that you even mentioned religion or jesus shows what an idiot you are. Explaining consciousness and death does not have to fit into a religion. i do something called... thinking for myself. i dont have a weak mind where i need to fit into a group. you obviously do. yes the universe can be explained in one post. use your head. |
