Bread company raided in mesa,az
Maricopa County sheriff's deputies have raided and served search warrants for suspected undocumented workers at the Alpine Bread Factory in Mesa this morning.
A sheriff's spokesman said deputies believe that at least 31 workers used falsified IDs to gain employment at the business at 300 W. Southern Ave. Sheriff Joe Arpaio was at the scene. http://www.martinfrost.ws/htmlfiles/...riff_joe05.jpg |
If it's true then they should be arrested, and the hiring person should be arrested, and the business should be fined, and the business should perhaps be put on lock down pending federal prosecution.
My guess is that only the first thing will happen. Because the gov. doesnt want to lose the tax revenue from the scumbag business who hired them. Just a guess. |

What are the penalties? The sanctions law effectively gives the licensing "death penalty" to businesses that are caught twice knowingly putting illegal immigrants on the payroll. First offenses are more complicated. Business licenses are suspended for up to 10 days or at least 10 days for a first offense, depending on the circumstances. The difference between "knowingly" and "intentionally" hiring an illegal worker is a legal determination that an employer not only knew an employee wasn't permitted to work in this country but intended to have an illegal worker on the payroll. Violators who "knowingly" hire can have their business licenses suspended up to 10 days for a first offense. Violators who "intentionally" hire must have their licenses suspended for at least 10 days. The law does not specify the maximum suspension for a first offense for intentional violations. In both types of cases, Superior Court judges will determine the length of the suspension and base it on a variety of factors, including: how long the business had employed someone illegally; whether the business had any prior misconduct; and the degree of harm caused by the violation. For both types of violations, employers must terminate all their illegal employees and file an affidavit within three business days swearing not to hire illegal workers again. First-time offenders are placed on probation and must file quarterly reports to the county attorney on each new employee they hire at that location during their supervision. For those with knowing violations, probation lasts three years. Intentional violators face five years of probation. |
Good stuff now Americans can have those low paying jobs and complain, bitch and do a fifth of the work of the immigrants. Company won't be able to sell their bread any more and it will go under. What a success story!

except now, the bakery will have to pay $12/hr instead of $7/hr AND the new workers will get some tax refund through Earned Income Credit on top of that... so business owner gets fucked, tax payers get fucked (Earned Income Credit), hard working immigrants get fucked, consumers get fucked (higher prices will get passed onto them)... the only "winners" are the new workers who will be making $12/hr for a job that was getting done for $7/hr a week earlier :thumbsup |
Pink trousers, pink handcuffs. Were they having some gay party at the time of the raid?

hehe Sheriff Joe Arpaio is something else. I always enjoy the documentaries on the County jail he is running.
If you live in Maricopa County #1) consider yourself very unlucky OR #2) do not break any laws OR #3) dont get caught :) But Joe pretty much catches everyone it looks like. :) |

I went to Smiths which is comparable to Ralphs in California. I purchased the same items: CA: $82 and change. AZ: $56 and change. Same items and these two stores are owned by the same company with the same set up. Gas - Mid-grade Ca: $3.97 AZ: $3.49 Water bill in Arizona for same water usage in CA... $42 includes trash. Same bill in CA: $92 Electric bill for very similar usage - AZ: $105 CA: $178 I could go on... Now that our CA schools make it mandatory to teach our kids the history of gays... Time for me to move! |

Idiots talk about bring jobs back to the US but expect those jobs to pay $25 an hour plus lifetime benefits and they also expect prices to remain the same. Sorry that's not close to being realistic. If jobs did come back to the US then Americans better be prepared for those jobs to be $8-$12 an hour little to no benefits and expect prices to be at least 30% higher. If they can't accept that then STFU. |

Arizona doesn't have CRV tax and the sales tax is lower... The beer costs the same store to store and here is a tip... Ask your girl at the cash register in Smith's for a $3 off on coors light. |
