For a second there i thought Lance Armstrong

RubyGoodnight 08-25-2012 12:20 PM

Is this where I reserve my spot for the inevitable "moon landing didn't happen" conspiracy theory discussion?

Same here. Also, the first human to set foot on the moon...allegedly

Guy went into space, that is sufficient.

A real American hero died today... How tragic. I hope he lived a full life.

He was one of my boyhood idols. With one sentence he changed the world, gave hope to a nation and filled the heads of millions of children with dreams.

RIP Neil, you will be missed.

I was going to write something of my own, but I read this. Perfect. Ditto.

Neil Armstrong, R.I.P.

RIP Neil Armstrong. :(

To think - Armstrong, Aldrin & Collins achieved their remarkable moon landing with computers far less sophisticated than today's generation of smartphones.

We should be thankful Microsoft didn't exist in July/1969.

Hell, they even broke off the ignition key and used a ballpoint pen to flip the circuit breaker before leaving the moon's surface.

He walked on the freakin' moon. I'd say he gave it hell and probably lived a damn good life. :thumbsup

Rest in peace Neil. You will forever be a hero and the moon will shine a little brighter tonight for those of us who idolized you when we were kids.

His Corvette

Awhile back someone on GFY posted that his Corvette was for sale on eBay for $250K? I wonder if that guys kicking himself now. Price probably just went up by the new owner.

This brings us to if you're old enough to remember where were you watching TV?

We were in an east coast motel on the crummiest vacation I ever had.

alias 08-25-2012 03:11 PM

Unfortunate, RIP.

CurrentlySober 08-25-2012 03:17 PM

Yeppa...watched it live on TV (I was 5yrs old). :thumbsup

And equally memorable (to a kid) - three years later Paul Henderson scored the winning goal in the final game of the '72 Canada/Russia hockey series.

Was only a loan car from a garage looking for publicity at the time. Not really something to affect the value like if he had actually owned it.

Aluminum is sufficiently dense to protect humans from the van allen radiation belt but only if
humans are sufficiently dense to believe it.
