I am sure there are plenty of other banks more the welcome to take my, or any other pornstar's, money. While it's an annoyance and inconvenience to move bank/accounts, it is what it is. This is not the first time, nor will it be the last time I am sure. We hear about a couple of times a year.

That said, there are plenty of other credit unions and banks in the sea scrambling for your dollars to pick from.

Well, most personal check & savings accounts are more or less just loss-leaders for banks - they don't actually make any money on them. And seeing as pornstars aren't typically going to arouse public sympathy, there's no real PR hit either. So I see no penalties for their bullshit moralizing.

And in comes the fees for direct deposit, bill pay, maintenance....trust me, if you have a bit of change in the bank, they are chiseling away.

It's sad but pretty much the only people discrimination laws apply to are blacks - and sometimes women.

I had issue this past week with a check from Chase that was written from an Adult company's account. Turned out the manager was just an idiot.

LOL and who's the source for that, the banks themselves no doubt. My bank makes money on my checking account, nickel and dime fees, shitty currency conversion prices they rip me off on going both ways, and don't forget, customers' bank deposits are loaned out.

It also goes on to say that banks make a fortune off the poor and stupids' checking and saving accounts through punitive fees for overdrafts and dipping below the minimum balance requirement.

It's the same as VISA and MASTERCARD, they don't make money off people who pay off their balance in full each month.

What i would like to know is what information did they use to determine if a account belongs to a person in the adult industry. I am wondering even if u never deposited a check from a adult company how intrusive where they in finding out u worked in the adult industry

I learned my lesson by NOT doing anything even remotely "adult" with ANY BIG banks years ago.

Support your local credit union (with free checking account in most cases without any BS “requirements”) or any small, regional bank –they will treat you better and way more flexible ;)

The entire finance industry is in essence a criminal enterprise. What else do you call people who make millions for doing nothing? Their business serves no other purpose than to make themselves richer off the backs of everyone else. Fuck Chase and every other bank.

It's not just porn... There's 29 other industries on the FDIC hit list. This isn't coming from Chase it's coming from bank examiners putting pressure on banks to shut down what they see as reputation issues with unpopular business.

Well, the "source" is just me. Years ago I worked for a bank in "loss prevention" i.e. fraud investigations. It was just commonly known there that personal checking & savings were mostly loss-leaders, the real money was in the more advanced consumer relationships (and of course it all paled in relation to corporate banking). I will grant you that in the time since I was in the industry personal banking fees have absolutely skyrocketed, so maybe they've hacked it into a viable income stream.

But yeah, in my time working in the fraud department I can say - people would be a little disturbed at how closely bank investigators try to piece together their habits, if their account is flagged (usually by a statistical model) for potentially risky transactions, and how much leeway even individuals at the bank have in shuttering an account altogether. So this doesn't surprise me. Now that I think of it, I once had to convince a co-worker not to shut someone's account down because it was discovered she was a stripper.

It's easy to find out. When a customer opens a bank account with the business name Skinworxxx, LLC they're going to take a look and ask questions. All the information is available on the Secretary of State website. Also when you're depositing checks from companies with names listed on AVN or XBiz they're going to make some assumptions about your affiliation.

I am happy that my paycheck from a well known adult company goes into a different bank.

NE - this is the worse thing a company can do. I advise all my clients to choose ambiguous corporate names when setting up their corporate structure. Most don't listen... They want a cool name and everyone thinks porn is "mainstream" now why would it matter.
