people that donate to charities?

who here donates, and which charity is your favourite?

Jon Clark - BANNED FOR LIFE 11-26-2006 07:54 AM

I have been pumping alot of money into one.org lately.....

Jakke PNG 11-26-2006 07:55 AM

I occasionally do, but not as often as I'd like.. Unlike in the US, donations aren't tax-deductible. So I have to first pay my normal taxes, and then donate.

When I do give, I almost always to give to something liberally translated at 'save the kids foundation'.

fris 11-26-2006 08:02 AM

i am looking into the sick kids foundation

Dagwolf 11-26-2006 08:02 AM

My local food bank.

Juilan 11-26-2006 08:04 AM

I am looking for a non-religious sponsor a child charity program...

biftek 11-26-2006 08:10 AM

i donate to the food bank ,but i wont donate cash to charities , a good percentage of the cash donated goes towards admin fees with fuck all cash going towards the projects

bopha 11-26-2006 08:24 AM

We give to animal charities. We also give to food banks. It's good for us to help when and where we can.

If you are interested in non-denominational child charities, you may call your local Children's Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House Charity. We've seen first hand how that charity benfits families of sick children. They provide a place to stay for families when their kids are in the hospitals. Some children have to have treatments really often and their family may live hours away. It's a burden lifted off these familes when they have a place to stay and shower. Just a thought. ;) http://www.rmhc.com/

StuartD 11-26-2006 08:29 AM

I donate all the time, the one I donate most often to is The Sick Kids Hospital

DjSap 11-26-2006 09:41 AM

animal shelters...prefer them to people so thus they get all the donations from me...

Chris 11-26-2006 09:44 AM

Donate to your local toys 4 tots program

pocketkangaroo 11-26-2006 09:50 AM

I donate to the local Children's Hospital. A lot of the kids are terminal and the treatment they provide is unbelievable. Money goes for a lot of things from helping pay medical bills, improving the facilities, providing extra stuff for patients, and support for families who have to deal with it.

If you have one in the area, you can usually go in and talk to them about donating. They'll give you a tour and run-down of what the money is used for. If you can make it through that with dry eyes, you may not be human.

jasonir 11-26-2006 09:51 AM

$1000 a month to sickkids.

wedouglas 11-26-2006 09:54 AM

I do $3K a year to my local humane society.

Animals are far better than most people. Don't be jealous that people give more to animals than you make each year. BTW, aren't you just a post whore?

Why don't you sell a bunch of stuff around your house and donate the money to those dieing people in Africa? I'm sure you don't need it all.

polish_aristocrat 11-26-2006 10:02 AM

I donated today $1500 to ladbrokes.com :(

for the last time though

polish_aristocrat 11-26-2006 10:05 AM

on a serious note, I donate rarely and rather small amounts

the most I donated at once was $500 to Greenpeace... and that was like 1.5 years ago

since then i donated maybe $50 here and there
then again, I also don't spend much money on myself, so it's not that I drive a Porsche and donate only $50 to poor kids

E$_manager 11-26-2006 10:05 AM

Only to homeless on the street. At least this way you will know that the money reached the poor person.

i guess arguing with a user named "sickkittens" isnt a smart idea

i donate part of my money to charity yes

but im sorry that i see humans more important than animals

yes i may be brain-washed for actully thinking that a human needs help more than an animal.

but hey, thats just me :)

Kevsh 11-26-2006 10:08 AM

The Sick Kids Hospital here in Toronto, which helps children from all over the world not just locally. A world-class facility.

animals are creatures. humans have not come to this stage in life by being nice to animals, humans have got this far through slaughter and killing other animals.

i would happily kill a chicken to eat it tonight. (the only difference these days is that it is done behind closed doors at the super market.) even though its not in my culture and i was really, really hungry, i would eat a dog no problem.

whats the difference between a chicken and a dog? oh yes i know, ones more cuddly and good looking.

im sorry but just because i see humans as more important as animals ( i know, i know crazy statement!!!) doesnt mean i wont respect your choice to save a cold cat, rather than a dieing african man with an illness spreading.

hey just my choice in life to help things that actully count. like other human beings.

yes call me a mental case!

BTW - no im not, you have not seen my stats. others have, but not you. what do you do again except troll?

Babaganoosh 11-26-2006 10:12 AM

I like to give to:
St. Jude Children's Hospital http://www.stjude.org/

and local animal charities. Look for a local no-kill animal shelter or wildlife rescue organization. They always need your donation and if they are local you can see how your donation is being spent.

you care more about boycotting sigwhores than u care about boycotting sponsers who use zango, so your opinion is very much appreciated.

Local pug rescue group
Compassionate Friends
St. Judes
Empty Stocking Fund
Toys for Tots
Local charities (food bank, foster children diapers, animal rescue)
Boy's Town
Veterans group
Red Cross
Personal situations

The animal groups I give $$$ to is to take care of them until they can find a family which includes neutering and spaying. IMO, neutering and spaying stray animals is one the best things you can "do for animals".

Who said that? I boycott sponsors who use Zango OR use sigwhores (like you).

Your spelling and grammar make me want to donate money to education.

Maybe I have you confused with another scott, but I don't think so. Weren't you on that sig selling website with maddawgz?

Here is the problem. Dogs and cats would be fine if we never interfered with them. Don't forget that humans domesticated animals. That makes them our responsibility. They depend on us now. And don't forget how useful they have been to humans. Don't forget how necessary animals have been in the past. Last time I checked animals (such as horses) used to perform labor that humans could not do.

scottybuzz 11-26-2006 10:26 AM

true animals are important but not nearly as important as humans, come on man, even you know that! wow horses perfom jobs that humans cant do!!! but humans invented the job for the horse to do.

there was a crisis in russia about 8 years ago and in the newspaper it was writing about it how people were starving and freezing and dieing in the cold and how animals were also doing the same thing.
the newspaper got loads of donations for the animals. not one donation was for the humans of russia. those readers really have gone barmy.

yes i was on that website and im sorry but i like money, is there a crime in getting $500 for a sig for a month by advertising on that site? if there is please arrest me.

bangoboo cash spelling is so so so imporant isnt it. omgz !! noone on a message board isnt going to give a fuck, only the ones with no friends who have nothing better to do than comment on people with bad spelling. move on. next complaint so I can raise my sig money further.

I donate to the Stollery Children's Hospital here in Edmonton.
I believe it is very similar to the one in Toronto.

hahahhaa knowing dark jed, i think he is taking the piss out of americans, just how much they care about their pets over their humans.

Babagirls 11-26-2006 10:40 AM

around this time of year, I donate a little here and there. Throw in a buck at the McDonalds drive thru when getting coffee...give some change to the Salvation Army people that sit outside malls and stores....and I made a $10 donatation to the Wisconsin 2nd Harvest (that $10 fed 40 people for Thanksgiving). :)

But if humans weren't around, those animals would all be OK. I'm not arguing that humans aren't extremely advanced and amazing, I'm just saying that we cause a lot of problems for other things and care too little about it. Don't forget that we haven't been around that long. We have just came a long way in a short time.

I don't know if you have a pet, but most people consider pets family. The bond people form with animals is stronger than you may think, so to those people, animals are just as important if not more important than some stranger who lives 10K miles away.

Would you rather help your starving brother or a starving man in Africa? Same goes for people and animals. In some sense they are placed on the same level as one another. I'd rather help my starving pet than the starving man in Africa.

This is getting off topic. Im hungry. Adios.

selena 11-26-2006 10:42 AM

The boys and I have a sponsored child, and I look to add another in 2007.

Christian Childrens Fund

wyldblyss 11-26-2006 10:49 AM

We donate to the children's wish foundation, children's cancer foundation, animal shelter, St. Jude's and Ronald McDonald House

I think he probably likes animals more than he likes people. I understand and respect that completely.

Slick 11-26-2006 10:50 AM

I give give a little here and there to different organizations, but usually the Salvation Army gets a lot outta me this time of year with their bell ringers, I drop money in every time I see one, which is quite often because they're everywhere around here, ha ha.
