I just read an article that said there was a poll done of British people and apparently the nation's favorite word is "nincompoop". My favorite has long been plethora.

It is a pretty nifty word. I don't know why it too my fancy but somebody asked me this question in high school and that was the first word I thought to say and it has stuck.
