You know what is really sad about the passage of Prop 8?

Prop 2 passed as well. I can't believe the tree huggers in this state.

I blame it on the influx of people from elsewhere voting. I think State measures should only be voted on by natives. If you moved here fine, not much we can do to keep you out, but please leave our politics alone.

Fletch XXX 11-07-2008 06:01 PM

6 years till they have to comply with prop 2 though

PurrrsianPussyKat 11-07-2008 06:06 PM

So putting a chicken in a tiny cage and chopping off his beak so he doesn't poke his neighbor chicken, is ok with you?

Wouldn't you rather see a bunch of them in a farm yard scratching for corn? Seems like a much better life before we cook them and rip the meat off their bones. lol

SomeCreep 11-07-2008 06:08 PM

Religion still has enough people believing homosexuals are not equal to heterosexuals and therefore should not have the same human rights.

If you want to rely on farms that have enough room to let chickens scratch around looking for corn the price of chicken is going to go thru the roof. You can already count on a price hike as a result of this stupid measure.

Oh, I don't eat chicken beaks, so I could not really care if they chop them off or not.

PurrrsianPussyKat 11-07-2008 06:13 PM

lol I knew you wouldn't see the humor. Not everyone is attacking you, ya know. ;)

I did not feel attacked, but I am sure your faux argument for Prop 2 is probably the mindset of many tree huggers, so I am addressing those that feel that way.

Of course! Beak free homosexual chickens should be allowed to share the same cage! :thumbsup

You say that as if you do KFC everyday or something.

Actually it could make the price go down.
Harder rules on animal treatment will make small producers more competitive with
bigger corps. Meaning more smaller guys doing start ups.

Sly 11-07-2008 06:22 PM

What is Prop 2?

Sometimes I think it would be better if we split up into 50 countries...

Just because you only frequent fast food establishments doesn't mean the rest of us do.

Right. Cut down on the ability to mass produce them. Make it more labor intensive to raise them. That should help.

pocketkangaroo 11-07-2008 07:17 PM

How is opposing animal cruelty some kind of hippie tree hugging? There are a lot of companies that offer cage free eggs that are priced just as cheap. In any event, I'll pay an extra dime for my eggs if it means we aren't torturing animals.

Everyone should buy cage free eggs anyway in my opinion. They are in every grocery store.

moeloubani 11-07-2008 07:22 PM

i dont think people understand that humans are the only creatures that aren't happy with just the basic necessities of life

chickens dont care if theyre in a cage as long as they have food and water and get their eggs fertilized then they are A ok

its not like a person that longs for the outside world, misses their chums and wants a home cooked meal

its a chicken

Apparently it is torture if they don't get yard time and a color TV with basic cable.

I eat free-range or organic all the time and it is barely more expensive than the antibiotic hormone filled birds.

we need to be responsible when it comes to unnecessary cruelty, we have the power to make the decisions, most people don't want to see the cruelty that their choices cause :2 cents:

you say that like you actually believe yourself

think about it and open your mind to other possibilities for a change, you are so wrong and state it so matter of factly that it amazes me :2 cents:

have you ever watched animals play? have you ever seen animals grieve at the loss of a friend or partner? there are so many more examples I could bring up......

I already pay more to eat all free range and organic. Voted YES on helping animals and NO on discriminating against homosexuals. Guess I'm just a typical tree hugger.

What if we moved here almost ten years ago from another blue state (that incidentally, DOES allow gay marriage and just decriminalized possession) --- is there a statute of limitations?

i know i know and its hard not to relate those scenarios with human feelings and they are very similar, however the difference is a huge difference and thats the ability to self reflect on those feelings

a dog in pain doesnt realize hes the one in pain, it just feels pain and jumps away

at an early age little kids are the same way - they dont have feelings the same way me and you do and its not until they are self aware and able to reflect on themselves that things like feelings and consciously recallable memory start to happen

Yeah, show me a picture of a chicken playing or grieving. How about a cow?

Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. We don't have common law marriage either.

Are you that stoned that you do not know what it means to be a native of a state or did you move so many times you do not know where you are from?

For the record, I am 5th generation Californian. My family helped settle this state.

BadDog, I love you bunches but I can't believe the argument you are trying to make here and it makes me sad that people still have such primitive thoughts about animals and their rights.

Chickens don't have pain receptors in their body? They don't suffer immense stress from not being able to perform natural functions? I think you underestimate the mental capacity of these animals. They are not zombies.

Okay, you have proven that lions and crocodiles like to play tug-of-war, and lions will win.

But the lions did not win that time.

Well, they lost against the buffalo, but they seemed to have beaten the croc . . . unless some GFYer wants us to presume that the croc and buffalo thought up a game plan where the croc distracted the lions long enough for the buffalo to mount an attack.

some humans are arrogant to believe that they are the only species in this world that feels

we are more similar than many of you care to believe in your arrogant superiority complex

just because an animal doesn't do mathematics like we do doesn't mean it doesn't have emotions.... they are self aware, whether you want to believe it or not.

Really? What emotions does a chicken feel?

Latino and black voters whose record turnout helped carry Barack Obama to the presidency proved to be a double-edged sword for liberals in California, where the two groups were credited for the narrow victory of the gay marriage ban.
