Magnum Porn 08-07-2004 12:43 PM

What I meant was randomly select galleries without aging them so I never run out of galleries and have to wait.

Magnum.

Now im not saying his credibility is shot, heck, the least he deserves for providing you with a tutorial on how to make thousands of dollars a month is a finders fee. All I mean to say is make sure you research what you're getting into before you blow all your money on it, what was said in this post is just one mans opinoin and not a guaranteed recipe to make money. :) If you know anything about our economy you should know the fallacy of composition. What's good for one person is NOT neccessarily good for all.

Best of luck!

That's pretty much what I'm doing ... but it doesn't seem to me that zzgundamnzz's method is prohibitively expensive; the only thing (as I understand it) that would be costly is the feeder traffic, which, as you said, can be built slowly by submitting galleries with reciprocals to other TGP's.

[Build Control]
Auto Random -> Yes

Operational Control Settings
Hold Period -> 1 Day

If you do it every 10 minutes you'll use 6 thumbs per hour which is 144 thumbs a day.

You should put in atleast 1-2K of galleries so your content never goes flat and comus can do its job by selecting the best thumbs.

Set the hold period to a week if you have alot of galleries.

zzgundamnzz 08-09-2004 10:58 AM

Time for a small update:

Forget what I said about TTT in the first page.

They have a C Version that gives your traffic back for the first month...

Just tried it on one of my sites and it kicks ass :thumbsup

pood 08-16-2004 12:23 AM

zzgundamnzz, how are you planning on following the new 2257?

I know that your using all hosted gals, like me.

are you linking them to teh sponser sites or downloading all of the custodian of records to your site?

Im going to wait til they actually do pass the new regulations. If they do pass they'll give the people time to change there stuff and to become compliant. I think it was 30 days...

But as of now Im not changing a thing til everything is clarified. Im not going to let other peoples bs and speculation cripple my business.

Khun 08-16-2004 01:58 PM

With the new 2257 BS, I am switching my comus to a link based site (which fucking sucks seeing as I dont know what I am doing.) The good thing about doing this is the much lower bandwidth pull from not having all the pics and also having a much broader list of galleries.

Now as for shit that I am having go wrong, I ma using Arrow Trader Light and it is not counting any of the clicks in. I have the include line on all of my pages (just I get hits to a sub category by some unknown FUBAR code). What the fuck gives? I have been trying to get this going now for a while and getting a little fed up. Also, if anyone is really nice, can you look at my site and lett me what the queries should look like for my Hall of Fame (best galleries ever), Todays Galleries (shit sent in and put to list the prior day), and Yesterday's galleries (The name is wrong and I am going to change it from yesterday to Past Galleries but I want the last 50 and then 50 random from the database). These should all be the same in all categories with the exception of the category protion of the query so they all should look similar, or at least so I would think.

Isidoro Caņones 08-17-2004 09:59 AM

Anybody have any experience with ap|tgpē? how do you compare it with comusthumbs?

xlogger 08-18-2004 02:14 AM

damn, this is like the BEST thread on this whole fucking board.

retrograde 08-18-2004 08:53 AM

Is there one free traffic trade script that you would suggest over others? Perhaps TTT, since it's been mentioned several times already. It seems to be pretty popular.

zzgundamnzz 08-18-2004 10:04 AM

If you're going with a free trade script either go with TTT C Version or Arrow Trader Lite.

For the guy that asked to compare APTGP2 with Comus you can't. They're not in the same class. APTGP2 can be compared with AGSQL. But Comus' competitor is Thumbmanager.

Ok, now you lost me totally here :D

Why you can't compare them? I mean, what's the biggest difference between them? I thought that both were Thumbnail Gallery Management systems.

They are both thumbnail management systems. But then again a Honda Civic and a Porsche are also cars.

Go to each of their sites and compare the prices and features and you'll see what Im talking about.

I am relatively new to all this and I have to say I have been watching this thread with some serious enthusiasm! This thread ROCKS.

I have a TGP going,
I just bought a little bit of traffic, some test traffic. Not too much.

After about 2+ weeks, I just made my first sale yesterday.
I'm only getting 3000/day on avg though.
Someone wanna take a look at it and let me know what i could do to improve the look and productivity maybe?

www.blackoutsteens.com
Two Other Domains I own, but haven't used yet are:
someasians.com and somelatina.com
Are these good niche names? I thought they were short and catchy.

I'm also looking for a new host. I saw someone said they host for free for people sometimes. was that on this thread?
Cuz I'm running low on bandwidth, and I hate overage charges lol

Yeah, so give me any advice you can, and I'll appreciate anything.

How much bandwidth are you using btw? And what hosting company are you with right now?

BTW you made a good decision in getting different niches. You'll get better money by doing different niches.

blackout 08-20-2004 01:43 PM

I figured I had one site for teens, didn't need another... So I got those domain names.

I'm using a little bit over 40GB/month right now, but I was hosting my TGP galleries on blackoutsteens.com before, my pay-host(www.dreamhost.com) but now I have them on a freehost (www.kinghost.com) on domain www.blackoutsteens.net. So that cuts the bandwidth down a bit.

Dreamhost really sux, but it's what I can afford for the time-being.

Alltopnotch 08-23-2004 02:38 PM

husker6274 08-23-2004 09:06 PM

Did you try running the installer? What does it tell you?

husker6274 08-24-2004 11:20 PM

i had to switch servers, that's why it's not working yet.

I have read this board several times now. I have taken some advice. How do I know if i have or get all the requirements:
example:
PHP4 with MySql.
Zend Optimizer.
Image Magick and GD for PHP preferably 32bit GD2.
Wget for the auto installer

you made it seem easier than what it is. Is there somewhere I can go to get more detailed instructions. I've been to cozy and other resource sites. how did everybody get started, because everyone here i'm sure was just like me: anxious but ignorant.
i know i'll get answers like "maybe this business isn't for you" but i'll like to try first.
thank you

husker6274 08-24-2004 11:33 PM

Did you chmod your install file? Honestly this is one of the easiest scripts to install.

Its running it when its finally installed - thats the hard part.

husker6274 08-25-2004 02:17 PM

ok, when i went to install, i need the zend optimizer, so i downloaded that it couldn't find the apache httpd.conf root folder. how do i get that?

prodiac 08-25-2004 04:52 PM

Log in to your server and type "locate httpd.conf"

If you need any help, hit me up I can help you out with it.

reynold 08-25-2004 04:57 PM

that's a good tutorial you have here zzgundamnzz! :thumbsup

husker6274 08-26-2004 01:53 AM

webair tech said it's in: /usr/www/vapache/"username"/conf/httpd.conf

zend optimizer is asking for the apache root folder in my system. it's asking me to browse my system for it. i don't how to get it.
thanks for your help!

zzgundamnzz 08-26-2004 02:07 AM

Why don't you just get the webair tech to install Zend Optimizer for you?

husker6274 08-26-2004 02:10 AM

webair support rocks.

prodiac 08-27-2004 10:55 PM

I have followed this guide, and I am having the following problem:

I am using TTT-C with Comus Thumbs, and when I build my gallery, everything seems to work well. When I view the tgp, the thumbs show up properly .. then this is where it goes wrong.

When I click the thumbs, it does work to get to the skimmed site, but when it is trying to go to the urls for the galleries, I am getting dns errors .. even though the url's are set up properly. I think I must have TTT configured wrong within Comus, but I am really not sure, here is what I have:

Trade Admin URL
http://www.sitename.com/cgi-bin/ttt-admin

Link Trade Prefix
/cgi-bin/ttt-out?link=text&pct=%lshave%&url=

Thumb Trade Prefix
/cgi-bin/ttt-out?link=thumb&pct=%tshave%&url=

in TTT, I configured my url, etc .. Also I am using the default templates in Comus, I was just testing before I tried customizing the templates, etc.

If anybody could help, I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks
