However the idea that Cameron will resign is unrealistic. Scotland leaving the Union means a vastly increased parliamentary majority for the Tories. It completely re-draws the political map for Westminster elections, and probably means a Tory government for the next 20 years.

I actually don't believe Scotland are any sort of drain on the UK. The past few days has showed it isn't that case, and that's why we are now at the desperation stage from the other parties.
Cameron would be the Prime Minister who saw the collapse of the Union. I don't think he or anyone in charge during that period could keep their job...
