He is panicing mate, rumour has it that if Scotland votes YES then he will have to resign. He cancelled PM Question time for the first time in a very long while to fly to Scotland to campaign. All the while, he sat down in London thinking this was a cakewalk. I really hope they vote YES next week, I haven't been too bothered by it all until about two weeks ago when I started to educate myself on both sides arguments. Scotland will be a far better place with independence, the people will be better off and the country will thrive.

Depending on whose figures you believe, because of higher welfare spending Scotland is actually a drain on the UK budget. However the idea that Cameron will resign is unrealistic. Scotland leaving the Union means a vastly increased parliamentary majority for the Tories. It completely re-draws the political map for Westminster elections, and probably means a Tory government for the next 20 years. It is a no lose situation for Cameron, increased political power in the remaining Union, and they can blame the Blair government for the split because it was devolution which opened up this opportunity for the Scottish Nationalists in the first place. Or should the Scots vote to stay in the Union he will take the credit. ![]()

Cameron would be the Prime Minister who saw the collapse of the Union. I don't think he or anyone in charge during that period could keep their job... |

I am sure that there are pros and cons to Scotland breaking off. It's very easy to discuss the pros, but I wonder if anyone is looking at the cons.
It's easy to say "We get to keep our own oil revenues" but that's more of a sound bite and far from the truth. The oil might belong to Scotland, but I'm guessing the biggest company drilling that oil is BP - a British Company. I am also guessing the majority of the oil companies drilling that oil is also British. So in the end very little is going to change - the oil is still drilled by the same companies and the oil will still be distributed the same way. Scotland would be sure to gain from this, but I don't believe it would be nearly as much as people would think.
