True Grit

Just saw the movie, was very well done, was just as good as the original with the Duke in it. Jeff Bridges was perfect for the part. The ending was different, but I heard it was closer to the book.

think about that

I read that they didnt watch the original it was totally based on the book. I have to admit I LOVED the movie up until the last 90 seconds. but I guess thats how things were back in then. Anything else different from the Wayne film?

What's with all the remakes lately "True Grit", "The Mechanic". Doesn't Hollywood have anything original to make anymore ?

it wasn't bad, but its not as fabulous as everyone goes on and on about.. i love the coen brothers and if you can find one trace of any coen brothers quirky characteristics in this movie i'd be impressed because i didn't see anything... It's because of that that I was dissapointed...

they really need to find new books, there are plenty of good ones out there, no need to remake everything... shit if they want to remake something remake those damn shitty starwars prequels... make a lot of nerds and me happy at least!

I heard this was the first time the Coens made a movie that they did not write, and instead followed the book as closely as they could, so that was why it was not very Coen-esc...

would still like to see this though, just about anything with Jeff Bridges is worth watching, even if Matt Damon is in it...lol

With the Mechanic, its one of those times that the studio tries to keep it a secret that its a remake. Those of us who love our 70's cinema know the original exists.

Anymore? The "original" was based on a book so that was hardly original material. I'mnot sure why people think re-makes are A) bad or B) something recent.

You have to remember that the first True Grit gave John Wayne his one and only Oscar and for Duke Fans like me, thats a big deal. That in itself made me want to see the movie and I wasn't disappointed. The dialogue was rich, beyond that of the time for most and some of the lines made me laugh LOL.
I have a large collection of John Wayne on VHS and intend on watching the first one when I get back from my road trip.

The movie sucked, Jeff Bridges sucked and the new ending sucked! Matt Damon is the only part that is better than the original...

Too bad it's the truth. Most people watching True Grit in the past 10 days have downloaded the torrent.

Even my parents know it exists.

any version of true grit without glen campbell would be better than the original, even one with matt damon.
