Best Credit Card for Rewards/Travel etc? - GoFuckYourself.com

So looking over the past couple years and realizing our biz Amex SimpleCash card is well, crap for what we should be getting points for, what card company has the best reward/point program out there? More/less moderate travel per month and a good reward program?

I have a costco business AMX. Earn 4% on travel and gas. 3% food, 2% for dont recall and 1% everything else. Chase Freedom has the best I think. 5% Cash Back in quarterly bonus categories like gas, home improvement and department stores, subject to quarterly enrollment and maximum Unlimited 1% Cash Back on all other purchases with no spending tiers and $150 bonus. I do not carry a balance so the APRs do not matter to me.

Best hands down for travel is the United Airlines Chase Business Visa. You need to make sure to get the business one as they do not limit the miles you can earn. Ive been flying biz class all over the world for years and never pay.

Yeah, i'm not about cashback, i'd rather get rewards. Our amex cashback plan simply just pays itself towards our bill each month. I'd rather just collect points/miles.

As much as I HATE United, they seem to have the best card for miles. The other interesting part is Amex's travel site under last minute deals/flights I can get flights for half of what united.com is listing them for. APR isn't a issue since the card would be paid off every month. I just see a rather large sum of money we are paying on various methods that we can flip to a card and earn points with so why not.

How come you prefer miles/points? So lets say you get a free ticket or 2 per year? Isn't it just as good to get few hundred bucks in cash back? Then you can spend it on whatever you want without any restrictions...

Back when I was really spending, I was putting 150k/mo on the card just in advertising, which is a round trip biz class ticket anywhere in the world on United.

I love the Visa Chase Marriott rewards card. Nice online interface to track your rewards and things you can get, and you can get a quality Marriott anywhere. I charge everything to the card and just rack up the free rooms and stuff.

Because I'd rather pay the money and get rewards than get cash back, rewards are a point system cash back well means what we expensed is less than what we thought we did yes it might not make a lot of sense to some people but to pay what we were budgeting is fine and then get free goodies back is what I am after. As stated my current cashback program simply applied the cash back to the card each month which did me no good.

In Canada I have CIBC Visa aerogold which give me 1 points per $ spent and 1.5 points in some place like gas station, travel expense etc... and I need to spend 100k to get business class tickets to thailand which cost normally 9k here so it's basicly 9% reward. In comparaison with amex airmiles you need to spend 180k on your card to get a ticket in economy for same destination.

Yeah I like the cash. We have a card that does points but it seems that I get more cash then points when compared. But could be that my pints card is not that great. Like to get a $100 card that was 15000 points, but to cash that was $150. So i would rather have the $150 then a $100 gift card.

The best one i have found in Canada is the American Express Platinum Card. It costs $400 a year but it gives you 1.5 points for every dollar spent. It also gives you first class check in (even if you're flying coach haha) and first class air canada lounge access and priority boarding. The insurance it offers you for travel is fantastic and i believe it does offer you concierge service but i don't really bother with that stuff.

Next best would probably be the CIBC Aerogold Visa which is 1 point per dollar spent.

amex spg card (starwood) card most flexible and best conversion ratio

use for hotels, any airline, activities during your stay (I.e. helicopter ride is $200 you can convert your starwood points at the hotel itself to pay for the activity)

My personal favorite is the Amex business platinum. The annual fee is hefty but well worth it.
