Best At The Grammy's?

I am not sure what has happened to good music over the past 10 years. I miss it. However, there were a few decent performances last night. Who do you think shined?

I thought Eminem was pretty good...that Aretha Franklin tribute could have been much better and I liked the retro Bruno Mars set...the songs get WAY too much airtime, but it sounded good last night.

Those Mumford guys were pretty good. Actual musicians.

There's also a soft spot in me for Barbara Streisand singing Evergreen.

90% of that stuff on the Grammy's is garbage music. It proves that the masses are asses.

lady gagaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

bruno mars knocked it out of the park, so did that chick with the afro puff doo wop hair doo that followed him.

those 2 bands prior to bob dylan.

fuck, gweneth and cee lo kicked ass

muse ROCKED it.

the intro sucked, christina is a good singer but all the waaaaawooooowiiiiiiiii was overblown.

i thought dylan and jagger were going to have coronaries on the spot.

overall: kickass show!

Bieber is a robot carefully crafted in a meeting room by some music industry suits.

Didn't get a chance to catch the show, but The Arcade Fire winning album of the year is a step in the right direction. A really talented bunch.

I heard a song of theirs playing while in a CVS drugstore yesterday. That's where the downward spiral begins.

Years ago, when I was telling people about this cool indie band, I never thought I'd hear them while buying toilet paper and a toothbrush.

My 2¢...

I thought the Arcade band was really weird but pretty good.
Eminem was not that good. Same old-same old. The guy can't even crack a smile. He is a hater poser but I like his music typically. Barbara can still sing beautifully.
Christina's voice was amazing. She really made up for the SB fuck up.
Lady Gaga was really good. I am not a fan of her music but she sure is talented and can perform.

Watch this clip all the way through. They really bring the roof down on SNL, for a change.

For the most all out explosive performance at the Grammys, nothing beats the White Stripes from a few years back. Stick around till the end to see some great shit. How many bands play with that kind of fire?

haven't watch that show in years as I totally lost interest after seeing who's been winning Grammy's in the last couple of years.

With that said glad to read Arcade Fire won.

If Mumford and Sons played, I might actually have to find the clip. They are good stuff and pretty big in the UK at the moment.

The only clip I have seen from the Grammys so far is the Cee Lo and Muppets thing..which was just silly.

This page is a good indicator for why shit like Katy Perry and Drake are popular....

http://whoisarcadefire.tumblr.com/

I hate the grammys in general, but at I gotta at least give em credit for making a few choices last night with some artistic integrity.

Eminem stole the show. Guy is a genius.

Usher looks gayer than ever, and his man-boy love with Justin Bieber is sickening. I thought Cee Low Green was awesome, loved his costume!

i consider it more of an homage! besides, madonna did her share of ripping off, so gaga is simply carrying on the tradition.

I think that outfit Justin Bieber wore with his sneakers was appropriate,
he's a kid and his outfit screamed out "kid".

side note: did he win any awards? I was flickering back and fourth during
the whole show and I didn't see him win any?

I'm not really into that genre of music so in terms of the music/performance
I have no comment.

Just because you or everyone has heard of something, doesn't make it the best. Think about that.

The American music awards are based on sales (or used to be back when I was a kid and cared) and that is the place where the teen heart throbs to win. I remember being jazzed New Kids would win things there. The Grammys are suppose to be quality..suppose to be.

10 years from now we are going to look back at Bieber and say, "god...what were the masses thinking back then." He's this generation's Vanilla Ice. All the rage in the moment, but after some time (and perspective), the masses will get a clue and be embarrassed to say they were fans (or just flat out deny it)
