This is the problem. Everyone inside the prison knew about it, and even some of the "friendly" guards. They had keys to the cells and what guards there was inside "looked the other way".

So basically a bunch of Taliban sympathizing corrupt prison guards let a bunch of backwards ass poppy farmers escape so they can retreat back to their caves where they'll probably be obliterated by a missile strike from an unmanned predator drone in a couple weeks at the most.
