we use phplist now from using a package called dadamail - both are free and work well - the cronjobs and setup of phplist is safe, reliable and FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Personally, I prefer Interspire. Excellent software, but not free though.
Doesn't support various things such as multiple SMTPs, thresholds, and so on, but all in all a good software.
