What does it take to find some peace when you're poor

Four different places I've lived while poor.. if it's not barking dogs, it's an apartment with some kids bringing the house down up stairs

What the hell does it take

At this one place I was at, this barking dog drove me fucking crazy, I went over drunk and chased the dumb ass through his house and threated all kinds of things and scared him to death... did NO good..

What does it take what do I have to do murder someone?!!?!?

I just want some PEACE

it's probably pretty quiet under a bridge. Although you might have traffic noises.

Trust me, even in more affluent neighborhoods it can get noisy. Barking dogs aren't limited to poor areas. Your next door neighbors can sell their house and the next thing you know a young family with 4 screaming toddlers can move in.

Or 3 doors down the parents go away on vacation and leave their $350k home in the capeable hands of their teenage kids who throw a party that a hundred loud drunken high school brats attend and keep you up all night.

Or maybe your area has a lot of trees and you get a half dozen crows cawing up a storm every morning at first light.

Any or all of the above can happen anywhere, and frankly I'm surprised the murder rates in all major cities aren't higher than they are. Who among us hasn't felt the urge to take a shotgun to the odd crow or yappy dog, or to lob a grenade into the nieghbor's yard? ha

True on the fan or AC. Add some white noise which you'll get used to. In my bedroom, most of the noise comes in the window. Glass doesn't block sound nearly as well as brick and insulation. Now my window is covered with the layers - plastic film, thick "light blocking" blinds, then what really helps is THICK drapes closed tight.

To block sound, first you seal. Think of putting fingers or plugs in your ears, or pro style headphones that seal tight around your ears. After sealing windows and such, then absorb sound with fluffy insulating material like thick fabric. Some people put an old matress against a window.

At least, those are my thoughts as a weekend sound engineer. I'm certainly not a pro sound engineer.

I almost felt this pain. I live in a decently quiet neighborhood. My neighbor moved and the people that moved in had three loud kids and one of those yipping dogs that never shut up. The first few days they were there I tried to ignore them and assumed they were just getting used to a new place and things would quiet down. It didn't. After a week of them running around screaming I went over to talk to them. I was just going to introduce myself and drop the hint that I worked at home so maybe they would realize leaving the dog out to bark all day was not a good idea.

Luckily for me they told me they had just bought the house, were renovating it and were then going to rent it out so the kids and dog were just there with them while they worked on the house. A few days later the loud construction started, but it only lasted a few days and within a month they were gone and the new neighbors are a couple of college girls who are sharing the place and seem to be pretty quiet, normal people.

But as you said it has nothing to do with money. There are annoying people everywhere.

Our neighbors have a huge pit bull and another giant mutt. When they leave its barking every 10 min and every sunrise. They let them loose occasionally.

Best part is i have 2 young toddlers that probably look like slim jims to them. We just bought the home too. At Least we are overseas atm.

More examples of non income specific instances of annoyances that can happen anywhere:

Finding fresh pile of dogshit on your lawn every other day ---
And you don't own a dog. Always a nice thing to have happen.

Finding catprints all over your car ---
And you don't own a cat. Not only that but you just washed your wheels.

Idiot neighbor mowing lawn at 7 am ---
Not a problem unless he's sporting a blasting loud 200 horse turbo double overhead cam gas mower with beeping reverse.

Idiot neighbor firing up and running a circular saw at 6:43 am --
One of my favorites. Happened to me just the other day. I was tempted to go out and unplug him but I instead shut the window and went back to sleep.

Sometimes it may be that your best recourse is to develop a few annoying habits of your own. Like sitting out in your yard in a mankini covered in oil, a full cooler of beer at your side and a 1000 Kilowatt ghetto blaster on the other, cranking run to the fucking hills by Iron fucking Maiden over and over.

Okay, I've never done that, but I've thought it. Envisioned myself doing it. Imagined all my neighbors reactions.

*cough*, k carry on.

Add to that chickens on the farm at the rear waking you up at 5.00 am. Now I pretty well am used to it.

The neighbors have a dog that's about as close to a wolf as you can get.

That likes to howl at night. We got used to it and can sleep through it. A lot of people around here keep wolves, most are like big teddy bears. Just look dangerous.

The last couple of places had barking dogs. One of the times the guy was dying of cancer, so I didn't feel right killing his dogs. Other place, the clown had kids, again, didn't feel right about killing his dogs - either

It is funny because I can live a block from a train crossing and it never bothered me. I slept great. All about what you're use to. In jail I remember it was VERY noisy but mostly "white noise" so it was easy to sleep. I don't want to put a window box in, it is a pretty nice apartment... but maybe a big fan or something would be good

Of course last night I had more drinks than planned and was going to go throw the motherfucking asshole down the stairs. What a clown. The guy won't even look at me when he sees me. I'm about half of his size. What maroon!!
