I buy a lot of ammo, vacuum pack it with a oxy abosorber and put it in a safe. With no preservation ammo last for 30 years. Using this method should be good for 50 or more but more importantly in ten years this vacuum packed ammo in it's original box will still look as new as the day it was bought. Whenever I hit Walmart 2 or 3 times a month I stock up, but problem is they are always out of what I need. Yesterday I went in and noticed that the prices are up about 25% across the board except for the 100 box cases of 12 guage which is still $22.99. Talking to the clerk, he said yeah we raised prices last week as supply is limited and everyone is buying us out as soon as we stock the shelves. Went to Outdoor World today same thing. Hell you gotta take a number slip to get waited on at the guns area there. Fucking insane.

One things for sure. If shit hits the fan there will be enough guns on the streets to supply every American with at least 1.

I'm surprised you have not moved abroad Choker. You can build a Waco style compound in some places in the world for a fraction of probably what you've spent there already. And though it's illegal, you can easily buy shit like boxes of grenades, land mines, assault weapons, and rocket launchers over here (from Cambodia), if one were so inclined. Why fight a mob trying to break into your home when you can line your yard with mines?

Everything i usually buy even 22 lr went from 15.97 t0 22.97 for the 555 box. 9mm, 7.62, .223 .380, they all went up about 25%. I went to Outdoor world yesterday and compared prices, they are about the same as walmart now. Before they were always about 10 to 25% more than Wally.

Neighborhoods will come together for protection and resource sharing because Americans always come together and help during a real crisis.

The real problems start after 90 days when collective resources dry up and understand the government or lack off, can't help the masses. People will be forced to make tough decisions and when the true threats reveal themselves. In short, people start to die from lack of medication, hygiene issues, and lack of resources.

Segregation will start based off those strongest pushing "their" ideologies as the weak get pushed out to fend for themselves. It won't take long for the strong to go on the offense due to the lack of order and to test their new found power. Matter of fact, I'd bet rogue police and former military will be the first, like in post Soviet collapse.

Strategy:

Keep your mouth shut and blend as the alpha's play themselves out. I'd keep one firearm and minimal supplies because odds are they'll get taken from you anyway. A fortress mentality will insure someone storming the fort. So having bulk anything is just stupid, while arms/supplies should be hidden in a few locations. Just have a bug-out bag to insure your best defense, running.

Your health is the most important and due to stress, lack of sustenance, and disease, medication/vitamins should be at least number 2 on your list. Your ultimate goal is just survive long enough for order to be restored.

Civil War:

As crazy as this sounds, we're too divided as a country and a financial collapse would make the US susceptible to a succession, especially in the South and West Coast. To be honest, this is what I'm preparing for.

I've studied urban warfare for years and know the best strategies to survive. If this happens most of you are buying the wrong weapons. A shotgun is not going to help you or your $400 badass Romanian AK, because that's going to stovepipe after 300 rounds. Your AR is going to jam because you haven't put 1000's of rounds through it to loosen it up, or you left loaded mags in your closet/safe for years killing the spring tension.

Nothing wrong with having an AR or a proven AK to trade or close protection, but your best bet is to have an urban sniper rifle because snipers are the most feared people on a battlefield, especially in cities. Stalingrad proved a 100 snipers could kill 950+ German soldiers, most being officers.

The setup:

Two 14 inch x 4ft long PVC pipes with rubber seal gaskets screw on ends.

Pipe 1: A AK tantal with 4 mags, 500 FMJ, AK knife, Bic lighter, 4 MRE's, clothes, medicine, bandages, smokes, 4 small bottles of makers, chlorine tabs, thin blanket, and laced rubber shoes. Cost- $780

All items were shrink wrapped and in the pipe sealed, buried somewhere safe. No money because smokes and Whiskey will be the currency.

Pipe 2: A 6mm custom Sako synthetic, Leupold glass, range finder, 200 rds, knife, Bic lighter, 4 MRE's, clothes, medicine, bandages, smokes, 4 small bottles of makers, chlorine tabs, thin blanket, and laced rubber shoes.
Cost-$2,550

I selected the 6mm and the 5.45x39 because they are easier to carry and firmly believe a faster bullet does lot's more damage. Shooters argue that the 308 is the best sniper round for for accuracy, but a 6mm has a lower recoil and flatter (500 yard) faster bullet that's perfect for urban sniping.

Total cost: $3,500

Conclusion:

Although, I have lot's of silver coins that I'll be selling off this week, collecting silver and gold is useless because when economies collapse, history has proven many times these metal are soon outlawed.

Anyway, for $3500 I feel safe.

Long post but I was also meaning to write if for my blog too.

Iran recently started trading without using the dollar. They are sending India billions in oil and India will settle up at a later point. Doubt they will settle up with dollars. Just another reason I guess to get the "wipe out Iran show" on the road now instead of later.

Kevlar jackets have a expiration date don't they? Was checking them out not long ago if I remember correctly they loose thier effectivenness with age.

In gold news, Hong Kong just picked up 25 more tonnes of gold, and the biggest gold shops in Thailand (huge gold shops) almost closed down today due to so many selling today at this high price. Then on one of their major news networks they urged citizens to actually borrow money against their cars and homes to buy as much gold as possible, because the USD is going to totally collapse and gold is going to skyrocket. So no telling what will happen tomorrow here.

This is supposedly a 2010 issue jacket made for police in the UK by an American company. You can wear it under your clothing.

It wasn't very expensive though, so I am not expecting much. Let's just say I definitely won't be testing it out on purpose to see if it stops a bullet.

Ok as a result of this thread I decided to put some money into some guns and ammo, and some food. I figure AR-15's can be greased up real good, put in vacuum bags and all the air sucked out. Then just throw them in safes. Should be easy to resell them in the future at a really good profit. If a new assault gun ban were to go into effect they would be priceless.
