Pet Owners ... Please don't put people thru this shit!!!

I go out to my truck, help my old dog get in the back seats. Wait for the glow plugs, let it warm up for about a minute, slowly backup between the house and a small rock wall and feel something under the truck.

Sure as shit I just backed over a neighbors elderly retriever.

So I take it to the closest vet, help get it in the back area, deal with the crying kid who's parent's had the dog years before she was even born.

Now I'm in my kitchen in bloody clothes, just cleaned my back seats and having a vodka.

I'm a dog lover and your irresponsibility has just fucked up my week and hurt your pet.

Fuck

So the neighbors are irresponsible because you're too stupid to be aware of your surroundings when backing a truck up?

Yea that's it. I'm in my own back yard backing up, looking out the rear window and hit a loose dog that suddenly appeared.

I think he's saying the neighbors are irresponsible for not taking care of their dog. They should know it is too old to get out of the way of a slow moving vehicle, hence they shouldn't have let it outside.

My old jack russell got hit by a car and flew 5 feet, got up, and walked back to the house like nothing happened (although he was pretty damn hurt). Damn that dog was fucking invincible! I felt bad for the guy that hit him too, he was so upset that it happened but it wasn't his fault, the damn dog got away from me because he saw a squirrel or something...can't remember.

Now I have a beagle who refuses to walk on the sidewalk and always wants to walk in the middle of the road.

My neighbor has two little runt dogs that get out all the time and it's annoying. I'm sort of under the impression that small dogs are hard to control. And they love to break out.

My dog... If leave her outside by mistake she'll most likely just sit there.

Basically I'm saying if you let you dogs run loose there's a chance someone will run them over. And it really sucks to be the guy that does.

Yep, leash laws exist for a reason. Many think their pet is somehow "different", but the reality is, with rare exceptions (ie. some types of professionally trained service animals), really aren't ... an unleashed dog is generally trouble waiting to happen - most often putting itself in danger.

I feel sorry about the dog and everything, but please bro, the least you can do is meet us half way and get a daily driver from the 1990s instead of the 1930s. Glow plugs, fucking... seriously? Waiting for 5 minutes before you can turn the key is like some stone age shit from the Flintstones.

Those dogs are on a fucking adrenaline high 24/7. It's no wonder he acted like nothing happened.

From my experience, beagles are stupid fucking dogs. Great if you're hunting or tracking something, but in normal every day life, just dumb. They'd follow a scent right in front of a speeding 18 wheeler. And don't get me started on their bark/howl. Them either, honestly, because once they start, they don't shut the fuck up.

lol, the glow plugs only take about 5 seconds, don't you let the oil circulate for a minute before you drive off?

you do realize that if you bought a Diesel made in 2012, its got glow plugs right? Diesel option on a truck is about 3-6k more expensive. Lasts longer, more torque, and consumes less fuel, not to mention, diesel is now cheaper than gas right now.

Whut?

No.

Since I'm pretty fucking normal, I just get in the car and turn the damn key.

Of course, I always leave the door ajar for a good 5 seconds after starting the engine just in case I'm caught in some shit from that movie Casino. But that's about it.

we don't let our dogs out the front or off leash for that very reason. Not because they are stupid or old, but because they are dogs and they don't think of things like looking both ways before crossing the road or see the reverse lights are on on that truck so maybe i should get out of the way!

only time they are loose is in the backyard, a dog park or when we visit a friends farm.

yeah i'd be pissed off too.

My neighbor just opens the door and lets his dog run out by itself to shit in the grass near the side of building. Small dog, gray and hard to see. The thing likes to dash out to the parking lot just running aimlessly and our parking spot is right at the corner of the building where I won't even see it while backing out. You can often hear the guy standing at his front door whistling at it to come back! Accident waiting to happen. That and we have this woman down from us who has a mastiff she can barely hold on to that's aggressive

I backed over my neighbors cat about 5 years ago. It was an outdoor/indoor cat and was old and overweight, but friendly as hell and I really liked how she would come over and just chill out on the deck with us like she was a neighbor coming over to say hello. She was already under the car and sleeping, given her age and weight she just didn't move in time. I'm pretty sure she died instantly. It's a shitty feeling, a guilty feeling. Ultimately, it's just a sad accident that neither the animal, nor the driver, could have helped. Sounds that way in your case too...sorry to hear that.

You're lucky it wasn't a neighbour's kid. Fuck your stupid diesel glowplugs; and check around your truck before you exercise the right that Cracker Jacks gave you to drive.

"I got a plastic donkey!"
"I got a comic!"
L-Pink : "I got a driver's license! I'm a-gonna take daddy's old diesel truck out for a drive!"

Gotta start my truck. Rumparumpa - glow plugs. Damned diesel. Just gonna sit here till the piece of shit doesn't sound like a dolphin choking on ball-bearings anymore...

Ok, its cool now. Put it in "D" and "CRUNCH!" Sorry, Martha. Was that your granddaughter? Damn!

If an idiot like you ever moves to a colder climate - don't get a diesel. Try the bus. Prolly a better idea.

BTW - if you ran over my dog, you would not be posting here. Maybe in six months you'd learm how to write with your teeth but - yeah... You're either full of shit or your neighbour is elderly or afraid of you. Or both.

I'm picking the "HEY! I"M CREATING IMAGINARY DRAMA!!!!" angle.

Yeah. You drive over my dog in your ratty diesel and you end up posting here two years later using a straw in your mouth that you suck and blow with.

You are full of shit.

Cool that you make shit up and post here about driving over someone's dog because you can't spare ten seconds to check the perimeter of your shitty truck.

Real cool. Hopefully there are no kids in your neighbourhood...

Real cool. Hopefully there are no kids in your neighbourhood...
Wake up on the wrong side of a big black cock this morning?

To bad it wasn't you I backed over since you have such a fucked up life you were going to kill yourself anyway. Why didn't you? Something else you never accomplished huh?

I had an australian cattle dog(blue heeler) that never, ever left the borders of the property at 3 different houses. She never ran up to people and never bit anyone. Tho in general, I agree that most dogs should be on a leash or run or otherwise monitored in some controlled way.

leashes are a dogs best friend. My dogs are always on leashes, even though I could walk the little one without it I dont. if something happened and I need to grab him quick I got him on a line.

It was not your fault at all. Any animal out running assumes reponsibilty for where they lay around.

He must have been very old and docile to not move out of there after you started and warmed it up.

Nobody looks under the car when backing out of a driveway. Way it goes for the animal. Hope he makes it.

What a day. I feel for ya. Amazing how quickly life can go awry.

Sad deal all round. Best wishes.

QFT!!

Everyone walks around their vehicle in their own back yard just to make sure a broke, asshole like you isn't trying to take a nap under the rear tires. It's just common sense.

Fuck

.
Good thing is that you cared

Most people would just drop the dog in the bin and pretend they never did a thing.

Saves me from sayin' it. It all sounds purely accidental...wrong place at the wrong time for the dog. Hope the dog pulls through.

That sucks man

It's not your fault but I know what you mean. My idiot neighbor lets their two dogs run like idiots when taking them for a walk. I've told them a number of times it's going to get ran over or hit
