Thanks.

Bottom line, there are people who let animals run free to a degree espec in the neighborhood like a door or two down. As most pet animals (dogs or cats) dont roam far and then usually for only short times. They know where home is.

Most times never a prob, like maybe one in 500 pets or more has a serious accident via a human.

But when it happens it is indeed prob the owners fault. Owner should certainly reinburse you for the blood stains, vet bill, ect.

I would have took the dog next door or actually prob just ran next door. You taking it to the vet was above and beyond and very nice to try and save it.

I would say, dont be upset with the owner. This is the price we pay for the animal's freedom as well as for keeping good neighbor relations.

Altho being a dog.. yeah a dog you must keep leashed or well trained. This doesnt happen to cats.

It's hot down there. Dog is old, maybe a lil lazy, maybe bad hearing. Always sad for the owner and of course for those involved of course.

Plus having a 15 y/o dog yourself and knowing the dog.

Again best wishes LP.
