GothicSluts.com vs. BarelyEvil.com Tours

I would really appreciate it if you all could give me some feedback on these two tours. Do you like the more traditional format of the GothicSluts.com one or the newer BarelyEvil.com one better? We are launching our new Spooky Cash program and I know both sites do well with our traffic, but I am wondering how webmasters who specialize in affiliate promo feel about the designs. Thanks for any insight you all can give me.

as a surfer, I liked both in different ways.

If I was to push them, I would run a script that would rotate their tours, and see who converts the best. Both are good, whoever are doing those sites gets major kudos. Nice stuff......

Having "sluts" in the URL might be good for SE listings, but it's hard to build a site around that abstract of an idea.

Hmm, it is certainly sounding like the Gothic Sluts tour needs a facelift. The site has been up for longer, so Barely Evil's tour is newer, and it looks like the newer more current-looking tour appeals more. FYI, the two sites have completely different content. I'm dreading having to go through every set to make a little icon for that update like what Barely Evil has, but probably not as much as my partner is dreading having to actually do a new design for Gothic Sluts. Do you all think the little update icons with the friends button sized pic from each set are likely to be important for conversions or do you think it is just that Barely Evil has better overall design? I guess they would show that the sites do not have overlap. No sleep for the wicked.

That would be Mr. Forrest Black's nice work for the most part, unless you count my going, "hey, you should design a new tour, hey, you should design a new tour." Well, I did a lot of the photography too.

I noticed that you have a button for Gothic Sluts on the first page of the current Barely Evil tour. Is that button on the affiliate linked tour and do affiliates get paid on Gothic Sluts sales if the traffic clicks out to Gothic Sluts?

Yeah, I know. That's my fault, not hers. I removed them as a billing option, but obviously have yet to rewrite the billing terms. It's really best for affiliates that I knocked them out anyway. I do appreciate the heads up reminder though.

Hey Forrest! Good to hear from ya! ;)
Good work on the sites, and good photography!
Any chance you guys will open a content provider soon?
Just curious.

barely evil is much, and I do mean MUCH better. gothic sluts looks like one of them sites where you'll have 2 on-topic picture sets and then 5000 different plugins non of which fit the niche. barely evil looks like a site which will give the real thing.

Suggestions for the barelyevil site...

(here is pics setting for easy explantion)

[Pic 1] [P ] [Pic 4]
I ] [Pic 5]
C ] [Pic 6]
[Pic 2] 3] [Pic 7]

----

Replace Pic 1 and Pic 4. Pic 1 is just scary looking. Pic 4 looks professional looking. If you change those I would even be tempted to join.

If you want other suggestions for other pages, hit me up on ICQ

Thank you. Yeah, we've certainly kicked around the notion. I know a lot of people seem to like our pictures and stuff. But, with all the sites and shoots and magazine columns, and now launching the brand new magazine project, well, let's just say it isn't on this week's do list... maybe...

Oh yeah, and although for some inexplicable reason I've decided to post today, I actually have had an account here for a long time, and I wanted to take a moment to thank you Voodoo, for all the nice stuff you've said over time and all the links to our spooky Blue Blood galleries and stuff. I appreciate it.

Wow, maybe I've been drinking too much already today, but that number system just totally baffled me. Is that the primary page pictures or are you talking about the tour page order? Maybe I'll fire up the old ICQ and try to dig up what the hell my little number is, but you could just describe the shots if you want. I do appreciate the feedback though.

No, wait, now I think I do understand, oddly enough... Your pic 4,5,6, & 7 are down the right column, as I understand it. Those shots rotate through with each update. They change around every other day. Pic 4 went up this morning. I agree, Pic 1 could be replaced with a newer shot, but our girls ARE scary, haha, and I wouldn't want to mislead anyone into thinking otherwise.

My suspicion is that the tour buttons and continue tour buttons could be highlighted better as well.

Thanks man! No problem.
BTW, if you have been considering bringing up a content site, we should talk. I've got the perfect domain name for it, and would be interested in giving you the domain name and designing/developing it, possibly in trade for some content?

Anyhow, if you're interested, let me know...

Thanks,
Voodoo

I'll be contrarian and vote for Gothic Sluts because it is so much easier to navigate. Putting on my surfer hat, when I visit a site I don't like being overwhelmed with "stuff." My impulse is to click it off before I get too confused.

By the way, you have a misspelling of "amateurs" on this page:

That does make sense, given that the GothicSluts.com tour is a lot more traditional in structure. I think the High Society article actually had it spelled incorrectly, but I'll have to double check. I suppose I could fix it, but I hate to modify quotes, even for corrections like that. The problem to me is that the clean GothicSluts.com tour doesn't communicate the massive amount of original and on topic content within the site. Once the numbers get that big, people just assume it's that shovelware content the other crap sites use.

Yes, so long as an affiliate is signed up for both the GothicSluts.com program and the BarelyEvil.com then he or she gets paid for the exit traffic to those sites. If someone clicks on the GothicSluts.com button on the Barely Evil front page and signs up for either site, then you get paid, even if they come back and sign up later. If someone clicks on your affiliate code and joins Gothic Sluts and then joins Barely Evil from a link on the inside of the Gothic Sluts members area, then you get paid for the sign up to Gothic Sluts and then you get paid again for the sign up to Barely Evil.
