any hardware geeks out there?

i just reinstalled windows xp, and instead of installing old drivers, i dl'd the latest driverpack from creative for my live 5.1 platinum. install works ok, but it dropped my right front speaker. everything with the speaker system seems to work, but i can't get that speaker to turn on. any help?

1. is the speaker plugged in?
2. do you have it set to 5.1 and the plugs in the wrong ports?
3. Tested it with the individual speaker testing software?

yep, they're plugged in, the speaker works, and the creative surround mixer test hits all the speakers except the rf. unplugging the controller and plugging it back in makes noise on all the speakers, so the amp still has output to that speaker, presumably. it's a klispch 450w 4.1.

oh yeah, when i switch from 2spkr to 4spkr in the surround mixer, it does some funny feedback thing in the rf... like a short buzz, just in that speaker, which makes me think it's a driver thing, especially since 30 seconds before the sound card was working just fine with the windows drivers. the only reason i installed the creative stuff was so i could use the plat drive, and the sound was really fucked up in bf1942... so i was hoping to fix that.

Shake your front right speaker to see if there is any loose components inside. It sounds to me like it's a hardware problem resulting from when you dropped it. A software driver would have no bearing on the problem you are describing. Both your front speakers would not be working if that was the case. You might want to try uninstalling the new drivers and just use the Windows drivers....or check your configuration settings with the software currently installed. There might be a preference setting buried inside the program. In either case, to troubleshoot something like that, it's best to go back to where you started initially. Good luck
