True, but it will take lot, and a lot of time, not just some consumer branding in 2012. And even still, the internet is far more vast than TV and people on it believe EVERYTHING even more so. I believe as long as Google continues to treat them the same as any other site, they won't reach any long term popularity.

I agree with what someone said about this .XXX thing being a quick money run. It really seems that way and we can only hope so. Congrats to the losers.

The majority of those .com domains have traffic because they are seo'd and because they are part of existing traffic networks, not because of the domain name.

i wouldn't think it would be wise to buy the .xxx of a domain and send it to a non .xxx participating program. the whole thing is a dangerous money pit.

you buy peoples .xxx that are obviously taking a stand against .xxx ($$$ per domain)
you sign up to their program and attempt to make money on their marks
they catch you and put you through the process legally ($$$$$ or more depending on domains purchased)
legal ramifications on the mark abuse too

just doesn't seem like something wise to do.

lots of those .xxx are sitting out there open for a reason.

being the opportunist that i am, i wouldn't even touch the scenarios here.

it has its risks , i certainly wouldn't do it under the radar. There are plenty of tld's ( .info .cc etc ) that people use to send traffic to sponsors using their domain name. Some sponsors encourage it.
i don't know that is true at all , many of those sites are dead or owners just aren't interested in domains speculation.

It would be foolish to buy a trademarked domain without approval of the holder.

.xxx is not magic, none of those domains will inherently get shitloads of traffic. Most will get just a few hits per day in typos etc.. you gotta work to make money :

the difference with .xxx and other tld's is xxx is a common search term

search for "gay" on google , gay.xxx will not show up , search for "gay xxx" they are already in top 10 on a brand new domain with no backlinks. there has got to be a 1000 gay sites with kw "gay xxx" that have backlinks and domain age..
