Your Sales and the Lunar Cycle

Anyone else noticed a pattern showing their sales are linked to the lunar cycle?

Reason I first picked up on it was I noticed that every day I was about to have an amazing day of sale the wife would completely lose her temper. Then it made me think back to an article I read about the menstrual cycle and the lunar cycle being the same length, this is because before there was street lighting the best time for mating was with moonlight present (also it was more difficult to sleep when there was a lot of moonlight).

It's mainly guys in the Northern Hemisphere who sign up to sites, so I'm guessing that either their bodies also pick up on the lunar cycle to some extent or that the female pheromones being given off in offices/shops/universities etc all make the guy more likely to sign up to a site.

Yep, that's the one! Though I've noticed that I can predict an amazing couple of day's CCBill sales if the wife has got absolutely insane at me over nothing, she does that around once per month

I do not follow any of that stuff to even begin to speculate, but if true, here is the theory behind it, I guess:

If this is the case then webmasters should be tracking the lunar cycle and increasing advertising/traffic during the peak days. It would also explain why my peak CCBill sales have moved to a different time of the month as the lunar cycle is 29.5 days

Yep, I'm one of those stats freaks too, obsessed with them, even studied them to a high level. I really need to limit how often I log into CCBill though

I wish someone would seriously ponder as I have the possibility that our stats are being manipulated.

I have an on record admission that stats are not 100% reliable and it is a long time problem that has no remedy to this day.

Yes thats an insider on record admitting what many of us have already suspected but never been able to prove.

It drives me insane knowing this, and knowing that some of the rest of you have suspicions but for what ever reason refuse to touch it with a ten foot pole.

THINK ABOUT IT...none of us are present to collect funds from our customers. We have to wait, and hope and trust that our sales and stats reporting and data is secure and forwarded to us BY THOSE WHO WE PAY 15%-20% of OUR PRECIOUS blood sweat and tears. If you ask me its another ridiculous tax.

In this day of deception, crooks, thieves, and bankers, how can we so gullibly trust others to collect our funds in our absence and not ever demand or formulate some form of oversight or accountability.

I will keep dreaming about my adult colleagues coming together and holding processing companies to task. Trust if one company is doing it, and getting away with it, then they all are regardless of what is being said by well paid public relations specialists, and sales and account reps.

All I would need is 30 minutes to place in your mind some very very compelling reasons to suspect we are being screwed

Sales always come to life around xmas, it's called computers, smart phones, and portable electronics. And... xmas isn't just on the 25th.

It's very easy to plot the cycle of the moon and query the stats against it. No sales pattern, growth, up or down happens based on the phases of the moon. Unless it's full moon or no moons during the Super Bowl, during the World Cup or during the Olympics - and that's why sales suck so bad.

What DOES change sales cycles is what day the 31st and 16th are on. If it's a Monday, sales suck that week, but 2 weeks later they will be good. If it's a Friday, this weekend will be strong and next will suck. Various payday patterns and long weekends can greatly change sales patterns.

the logic is sound, as the moon effects many things... hospitals report more "strange" things on full moons, as do police departments. to think it would effect peoples horniness, etc, or to think their wifes hormones changes throughout the month would effect porn buying habits is not off base whatsoever.

Agreed Why, the logic fits in for the theory side , but now it needs to be put to the test on the stats side. I haven't been comparing my stats to the lunar cycle for quite a while now, so I'll need to see if they still link in with it

Last time I discussed with SignUpDamnIt his stats were peaking at the same time of the month as mine, which at that point was close to the full moon

I'm not the first to consider this, most people will keep things like this to themselves as then it can give them an advantage i.e. they know when to maximize their ad spending

We have to be careful when studying the sales statistics, as the lunar cycle is only one factor of many that has to be taken into account. They require careful analysis
