Just finished freakonomics and would like to read something more serious about economics or business, it can be an older one also.. looking for something which got you motivated or just gave you cool ideas..

It's a very short light read and it does an excellent job of highlighting the keys to negotiating the best possible outcome

Dale Carnegie wrote a classic work for any business persion with "How to Win Friends and Influence People". It would certainly worth reading even if it were only for the extra money you'd make. Beyond that it covers classic principles on ENJOYING your work and getting something out of it besides money as well.

"The E-Myth" is another one I reference.

Brandonstills mentioned Rich dad, poor dad. It's a good presentation of true principles, told through a fictional story that the author claims to be autobiographical. The probable lack of integrity on the part of the author detracts from his credibility.

- "Lessons For The Young Economist" by Robert P Murphy. (written for "young people", so easy to read, yet covers a lot of different things.)
- "Economics In One Lesson" by henry Hazlitt
- "Man, Economy and State/Power and Market" by Murray Rothbard. (If you are really interested in economics, start with this one. The author does not expect you to be familiar with economics or the terminology. The book starts with the most basic concepts and covers everything from the Law of supply and demand to the Law of comparative advantage, from banking to trade cycle theory, from subsidies to inflation, from barter to monetary theory, from marginal pairs to price controls,... If you can read and are willing to learn, this is the one to buy)
- "Capital and Production" by Richard von Strigl

Forgot 2 others. Definitely have to recommend "Economics in One Lesson" as others have mentioned. I really like Thomas Sowell's "Basic Economics" as well.
