Hi guys, I'm new here, and I am wondering if anyone can please help me.

I'm trying to start a very unique adult business. I won't be selling porn per se (probably not much $$$ in that nowadays), but I will be using porn in a really innovative and revolutionary way in order to tap into new markets. Nobody else is doing what I'm doing, not even anything close to it, and I have a very strong business strategy to back it up.

I am trying to raise at least $200,000 from private investors in exchange for equity. Yes, I know that is a lot of money, but that's the price of being a trendsetter in this business. I have very strong profit projections, and I can return many times that figure (10-30x) in only months. I have already tried the mainstream channels (banks, mainstream investor groups), but they don't want to deal with "adult" stuff.

They are definitely potential sources, but they require divulging significant information to the public. Since my concepts are so new, I'd rather keep them under the table at this point, and keep discussions at a high level with individual private investors only. Are you a start up?
Exactly what equity stake are we talking about for the 200k investment.
Your valuing your company at 1 million plus. Have you invested any money yourself?
Will you draw a salary?
How will the investment be used?
What markets are you are referring to that will be targeted?
Do you have any interest / guarantee's from these new markets you speak of for your product?
Can you prove that interest / guarantee?
Do you work now? If so what do you do?
If you do work full time now are you willing to quit and work full time for this new business.

Okay guys, I know many of you are skeptical, but I am a 100% serious entrepreneur. Good ideas and products have to begin somewhere, and I just need capital to get it realized. If you actually hear out my business plans, you will realize that I am the real deal. I'm not about to post it in public where anyone will see it, but I will welcome private dialogue with serious investors who are serious about starting a new trend in the adult industry and making lots of money.

As all of you are aware, it takes money to make money, and if you want to make it big, you have to invest big. Finding money for this kind of project is not easy. I am familiar with traditional fund-raising methods, and I even personally know people with money to invest, but NOT the kind of people who would invest in adult businesses. Same with banks and mainstream investment groups; they don't want to touch anything adult. So I have to go outside the norm and do things like post in internet forums and make cold calls.

That's also why I am eager to get introductions to prominent people in the adult business. If you don't have the money (which most of you probably won't), I still will welcome hearing from you, if you can get me in contact with influential people in the adult industry who do have such funds. I'm not trying to get somebody to just blindly write me a check or wire me money sight unseen or anything shady like that. And anyone who wants to do that will definitely not make a good investor or business partner anyway.

One of you mentioned MANWIN. I am familiar with that company, but I'm not worried about competing with them. Actually, if anything, they will complement my business. Same with major porn companies like Vivid, I'm sure they will be very interested to hear my ideas, if only I can get in front of their executives to make an investment pitch. But I am not connected with people in those companies. If you CAN get me in touch with influential people in the business, then please send me an email. No, it just sounds like a random person asking for money. Who are you? If you have ZERO adult industry experience, you are high risk. Your idea might be solid but coming here asking for 200k seems a bit sketchy.

Whether you are looking for an Investor or an SBA loan, either will require a very detailed business plan. Those usually take 3 to 4 months of full time work to create, and ANY investor will expect to see at least two years of detailed revenue and expense projections.

If all you have at this moment is a concept, get back to the drawing board and get busy. If you have more, file a patent and keep cold calling.

BTW, much of that budget will be spent producing porn, although we will be using it to do something else, something quite special, and not selling it per se like all the other porn available. Since that is precisely your company's specialty, if you are willing to cover the costs associated with porn production, my capital requirement will be reduced accordingly, to a little over $100,000 instead of a full $200,000. That's sort of the impression I got around here. I would love to self fund, but my project is really an all-or-nothing approach. Going halfway with half the funds will get me nowhere... 0%, not 50%. And I would love to have backing from established players in the industry. So I will persist.

I would like to say thank you to those of you who have given me encouragement. People are instinctively incredulous when you're trying to start something really new and innovative. Anyone who takes anything posted here seriously, or any forum for that matter, needs to turn off the pc, take a break, get some fresh air and get their perspectives straight.

There are representatives of large companies here, including the two you have mentioned. They haven't posted so far, and they probably won't, it will just be a bunch of people who don't have $200k to spare anyway, so you'll do better trying to contact the big boys directly. Likewise other major players. It shouldn't be too difficult to get a contact at different places who will pass it up the chain, if you're serious.

Did you really tell the bank you were doing adult? Avoid the word adult/porn and they will be more than happy to help you.

What happened to real estate back in '03-'08 is happening at the banks for businesses. I just financed $50K USD worth of production equipment with no income requirement.

It's crazy right now. For example, if you served in the military, there is $40K USD ($30K cash and $10K on the card) waiting for you, no credit required. Only requirement is that you do not have a criminal record. If you have military friends that trust you, get 5 or 6 of them together to fund you.
