It helps, but there are other alternatives that are cheaper (free).
TM pays for studies, and the studies are scientifically proven to show that meditation does help.
TM will claim it's only their method that works - but any form of quiet reflection or focus can be good...

Why do they call it "transcendental" ?

I don't find repeating mantras to be helpful but I do find peaceful serenity working a good session with my singing bowls. I have 4 bowls of different frequencies and 6 gongs. Amazing when the time is right

If I don't have time for the bowls something like below helps me center. It gets good @ 2:55 also 5:53 is calming.

Also I practice Mindfulness Meditation.
