From the set of Amazing Spiderman 2

So the talk about town here in Rochester is that they're filming an action sequence for next years Amazing Spiderman 2.

I got myself a gig on the project and have been working on it all week.

Yesterday there was a big tractor trailer crash sequence and things didn't quite go as planned. But the results were awesome.

Here's a video someone local put up online. Standing behind the giant dust, dirt and smoke ball was yours truly. It played out so much quicker than it seems to in the video. Had I not gone to the bathroom 10 minutes prior, I'd have pissed myself. A small glass window next to us blew in, but the officer standing with me took the brunt of that. With a few scratches.

The video says it looks like they misfired and the stunt went bad. What actually happened was that one of the crash cars got stuck and the driver lost the ability to steer, so he just braked and braced. The nose of the truck was about 2 feet from the bank next door.

It's gotta be at least three. There had to be an old bad one in there somewhere.

I don't give a shit about the movie itself, but being part of a 500 person team working for 8 hours to set up for one single take was pretty fucking cool.

I love that you can see the ramps on the cop cars to make them Pile up!

It took them two hours to get those things into place. You can see them, but they don't show up in the framed shot.

Here's one from a shootout sequence. We can't film or take photos on set, but that doesn't seem to stop anyone in the surrounding buildings.

Nice. I was involved (Up to a point, in a minor way) with the Terminator 3 firetruck chase sequence at the start of the movie.

It was shot on Alameida and Santa Fey, and the crew used our parking lot as a base for it

Fascinating to watch what goes into it

That's been the best part for me. I'm just a PA, but I'm right in the middle of everything. Seeing everyone pull together to complete one task is pretty impressive.

That's so cool that you're involved with SpiderMan! Is all the filming being done in the Loop? I used to live down by Goodman and Monroe, so I think it would be awesome, and suck, to be there right now! *lol*

How long do they expect to be filming in Ro-cha-cha?

What do you think your odds of banging Emma Stone while on set are?

It's all downtown, nothing filming over that way. We're having a bit of downtime at the moment while they set up for what will probably be our last shot of the day. I check Facebook and GFY.

Things were scheduled for 10 days, but I think they planned to have things extended if need be...and that might be the case.

Odds of banging Emma Stone on set do not exist, as we're Second Unit and she's filming in NYC with First.

Too bad about the lack of Emma, but it sounds like you are having a blast.

As movie freak myself who dabbled in the business for a little while I would imagine it is just cool seeing how a huge production like that works.

Most of the stuff I work on is pretty small, crew wise...with very small budgets. There are 65 PAs on this project, which is twice as many people as were on the entire crew of the last movie I worked on.

Today they did a lot of wire work. There's some of that online. Someone with a Spiderman website is getting very close, and he has a lot of nice footage for a movie that you'd think they would want to be keeping under wraps.

Sounds like fun.

I worked as crew on a couple of low budget movies with a max crew of about 30. I wrote and produced a feature on a shoestring budget back in the 90's with next to no crew.

I lived in LA for a couple of years kicking around the scene, but really hated living there and got tired of all the fake people. I also realized that what I really liked doing was writing and I could do that anywhere so I left and focused on that. . . well and porn and a few other business things
