Anyone here ever ship a car long distance? Im sooo confused

I need to ship my car from fort lauderdale to san jose. Its not a direct path like say NY to Miami, so its all different routes..
there are 100,000 places I can go, i have no idea who to go with.

I also dont know if I should go with a Broker, or go direct to a carrier.
If I use a broker I get taken care of better, if I use a carrier

My car is a lease so I have to make sure its well taken care of.

Any thoughts?

thanks

I moved a car from Los Angeles to Philly. My advice is to be patient!

I only had luck with brokers, most carriers don't deal with individuals, unless they are small. Check to see that they are insured and a trustworthy company.

Good luck

Is it important to you that your car be shipped in an enclosed trailer, as opposed to exposed to the elements? Whenever I've shipped, it's been for cars that I preferred to be fully enclosed.

a 2 year old car is not a shitter lol.
The excise tax in california alone would be half the cost of shipping a car, why go through getting another one?

I was promised this and didn't get it and the car leaking above mine destroyed the finish on my 23 year old 442 and the company wouldn't make good and ended up closing. The around $200 bucks I saved was a really bad idea.

Not a super long distance, but I'm shipping one right now with uship.

FLA to TN. 94 Mercedes e320 cost about 400 bucks.

I had mine shipped from Chicago to Denver. It's easy, and relatively cheap. Dude showed up with one of those big semis with cars on it, drove my car onto the back, and then left - couple days later he dropped it off at the other location.

Just another idea for you, but some car carriers/whole sellers, etc at times will try to fill their load up and offer good rates if and only if they are finishing up a load. Patience is key to a fair price for sure. Insurance and more insurance no matter who you decide to use and always use the BBB when transporting vehicles. Some are pretty damn shady. =) Best of luck! Use Google and start there is my recommendation. =)

aren't California emission standards 'the best' in the states?

so your car being fine in Florida, would need all sorts of hoops jumped to get insured in cali?

if you are bringing a vehicle to california, please make sure it complies with california emission, the requirements are higher in CA than most other states, some cars do not have the proper emission control required... make sure before you ship.
i used this company once, their price was very competitive and great service:
autotransportdirect, they are a broker.
