What can you get away with on Youtube?

I'm looking to promote my vintage site on Youtube a bit.

Years ago I'd uploaded a few videos, these got a pretty good reception (at least far as views/likes/shares went) but eventually they were reported as "inappropriate content" taken down. They had *zero* nudity mind you, just some old-school burlesque style dancing with skimpy outfits and maybe one or two with pasties. And it's not like I promoted them in any sleazy way or anything.

But nowadays I see plenty of fully topless girls on there, so am I correct in assuming they've loosened the standards a bit? What can you get away with these days? Can I show boobs but no pussy or ass, or is it a gray area and just a matter of time before some git complains and gets your stuff removed?

It's mostly a matter of time until either your competitors find you or someone is offended by your video. My stuff is always down withhin 2-3 weeks of posting (non-nude) while other videos with the same material have been online for years. I might do the same crap and report some of those

Just takes 1 complaint and they will remove. They do not seem to like you putting a link in the description. You can put a link on your profile which seems to be fine. Any advertisement of your site I would do by talking in the video. I had a hot video of a girl taking a bath, tons of nipple shots in it. The video lasted about a month and was removed, not for nudity though, for spamming. I had 2 watermarks show up throughout the video and a link in the description.

They didn't, it just sometimes takes a bit till they get a note from someone.

However, if the video gets popular thus gets a lot of views it's a given somebody flags it.

I used an embedded video on a site of mine that had mainly offensive language in it, not even nudity (was a promo from AEE Vegas showing a tool I am promoting), after like half a year and 50 000 + views it got dissed.

I just had one pulled that had been up a few months, it was totally just a tease no skin showing. I had a link in the description, so I'm guessing that was the reason. It would be nice if they would just pull the link, not the entire video. Anyways the views were trickling along then all of a sudden it hit 80k views and was removed.

I suggest always using a new account created by a different IP address/email just in case. I have my main account that makes money and I don't want to risk it with my borderline adult stuff.

Install a copy of Parallel and create a separate/different OS image per account for the win

That's if you wanna do it right of coarse

If you wanna use Youtube for generating traffic, I'd seriously recommend focussing on mainstream advertising. Much more targeted traffic and less likely to get videos deleted, you'll still run into this problem though because your competition will report you anyway.

Deltav for adult related stuff I'd recommend using the smaller mainstream tube sites like Dailymotion, Vimeo and a couple of others. They have a NSFW category and in my experience content tends to be less likely to get deleted, even though you get less traffic it can work out better in the end because your videos will actually stay online.

Alright, good advice all. Thankis.

I had the same experience in the past as mentioned, just noticed what seemed like more nudity & whatnot (including in "official" music vids like ********** linked to) so thought there might've been a policy change. But sounds like it's still "just a matter of time" type thing. Good to know.

Will check out the other video providers. As you say Paul - the lower traffic there may not justify the time, but still prolly worth a look.
