ICQ is obsolete. And both Skype and ICQ and insecure. Jabber (XMPP) with OTR encryption is the way to go. Fuck PRISM (Microsoft and NSA) and fuck FSB which has a total control over the ICQ conversations

Still icq is best,it's like a mail with ability to have instant communication due it's ability to handle offline message very good.So i dont even need to have it on all the time,just login,send message,log off,then login next day to respond and etc.And skype is so horrible when it comes to offline messages,i cant belive how it's possible to have it open for entire day,and get offline message which was sent days ago only next day.Had too many awkward situations due that.

I think it's still quite in use by some. Perhaps it would be more popular if people were using better clients with an option of ICQ protocol. Original ICQ client sucks nowadays. Older versions have problems with connection. Personally I prefer email.

Yes, but in order to have this idea put to work more people have to start using it. How to convince people that there are better things to communicate? People just follow trends and easy idiotproof solutions and they ignore logic and facts.

ICQ is still my main messenger, but I log into that account and my yahoo via pidgin. Before that I used Trillian. I haven't used the actual ICQ interface in probably over a decade.

I get asked fairly often by mainstream people why adult uses ICQ so much. I've always figured it is because it is the standard we decided on in the wild west days and we just kept going with it. I never liked using MSN, Yahoo or AIM because their history functions stank and if you are doing support for more than a couple affiliates you are going to need history files. Skype is the only thing that has come along that has a history function nearly as good.
