In order to solve the problems of outgrowing a WordPress based site and CodingFutures inability to get Zombaio working with their YourMembers plugin, I recently installed PornCMS as a new members area. The idea being to transfer all my paid content to PornCMS and just have WordPress as a public blog. At the mo, I'm in transition with transferring content but will drop YourMembers as soon as it is all transferred. Feel free o take a look: www.esinem.com

The decision to buy was easy. There is nothing out there with the same flexibility for anything like the price. It's a steal, especially if you buy outright. I wish I had started out with it instead of trying to build a site in WP. I would have saved a lot of money, time and grief. WP is fine as a public blog front end without a lot of high bandwidth content.

Ryan (PleasureKing?) has been fantastic and been patient and attentive above and beyond the call of duty...and God knows I can be a pain in the butt :-) As one would expect, such a transition has not been trouble free but so far the responses have been excellent. Of course, there has been an element of user error my end as I discover how things work.

Initially, I had some issue with odd characters (? in a black diamond) and random translations of some words (model names and foreign words used in English text translated literally). This made transferring text annoying and slow. This was quickly sorted out though. Transferring text from WP is now really fast.

I'm still getting to grips with the video and photo uploads. In part, I think the issue might be finding the optimal export settings for video uploads, some of which are very big. However, I think there's also some issue with processing as some video files that wouldn't process suddenly worked after support did some work the other day. I still have files that fail, show up as no data or simply disappear in PornCMS , in spite of being visible and the right size in Filezilla. I have no doubt this will all be fixed shortly or I'll be told I'm doing something stupid my end. e.g. something it doesn't like about file names. The photo uploads were throwing errors fairly often but this now seems to be fixed. Maybe some initial problem with my set up server side?

I'm still unsure how PornCMS manages data uploads. I'm assuming ffmpeg converts the files to various formats and does some compression. However, I'm not sure what happens to the original file, failed files or unwanted data. I was told it's not a good idea to delete via ftp but I'm concerned about using up space given my large uploads.

I'd be interested to hear any advice from existing users on optimal formats and compression prior to upload (I'm shooting on a Canon HV20 or 550D in HD so files are massive). Any info on keeping space usage down would also be good.

The only other issue is that often I get a login failure message on admin but if I ignore it and refresh the browser link it lets me in no probs. I was told it is something to do with high server loads. No biggy as it's only a minor irritation.

Overall, I'm delighted and would highly recommend PornCMS. I'm sure my minor teething problems will all be resolved. shortly. It seems to do everything that the big boys do and is really easy for those of us without php and css skills but it's a fraction of the price. I had them do some customisation which didn't cost a lot and had I been a little more techie I could have done it myself very quickly. They got it looking almost exactly how I wanted. I opted for an inexpensive 'almost' rather than a more expensive 'exactly'. I'm very happy with the result and I've had zero problems from users. My site is not the standard porn site, so those with more standard requirement would probably get away with a $99 off the shelf template. It's also got a range of add ons like webcam. I'm looking forward to dropping Yourmembers and having all member content in PornCMS so I can use all the marketing features fully.

They have a free trial which shows their confidence in the product. Definitely worth a look. You won't be disappointed.

I don't know PornCMS, but shouldn't you be storing your files locally and then only upload the processed content? (that should be much MUCH smaller than the raw stuff).

Since that Ryan dude has been so helpful, he must have input on this ;)

I can assure you that I'm in no way connected with the authors of PornCMS or YourMembers. I believe credit where credit is due and that warts and all reviews are helpful. I wish somebody had warned me about YourMembers :-(

PornCMS uses ffmpeg to do a lot of server side processing and converts your video into various download formats so you don't have to. I'm not uploading raw footage, I'm precompressing in Adobe Media Encoder. I've bombarded poor Ryan with so many questions and he's be off sick the past week, so he hasn't got back on the file management issue yet.

PS Just heard the upload probs are likely to be due to a server attack. They're onto it

hey Bruce its hard to keep track of all the places to you post about the cms lol. thanks for the kind words as always.

yea as i mentioned in the emails, once you choose a file from ftp as a source file, you can't touch it. it now belongs to the cms. the cms will convert it into the chosen output versions and clips, then put it in the 'converted' folder, where it will eventually get deleted. touching it once you've given it to the cms will just cause errors. photo sets work the same way.

the server problems are certainly annoying. the servers we host the 'annual' accounts on are a bit overloaded. since the 'annual' customers pay less than our lowest monthly customers, it takes a lot of them to pay for each server. we do monitor and move sites that have high loads or a lot of hacker problems, but there's only so much we can do for those sites. our Plus accounts are on much better servers, where there are only 3-5 sites per server, and of course we also have dedicated servers. even purchasing a 'disk space upgrade' for $45 a month bumps you to a better server. we have 30 servers for hosted sites. only 5 for 'annual' accounts.

Pleasureking, I felt I was hijacking another thread so though I'd better start this. If I can glean any advice without pestering you too much, all to the good. Interesting stuff about server levels. I didn't know that; it makes the pricing make more sense. I'm sure it's not the most efficient set up to have half my site on your sever and half on my VPS. Will mail you at some stage to discuss. Anyway, keep up the good work
