Tech gods: What can you do with a facebook login? Is it important or nothing?

I hired these Russian developers to do a "Login with Facebook" button, but they did it on THEIR FB developers account.
Meaning when someone logs into my site with facebook, their name shows up on my site and they are logged in, but I can't access any of that info.

Is it super duper important that its under my account, or can I just leave it?
As it is now its a convenience thing, but I dont know if I really need to access that information.
or would I be a fool not to have it under my account?

it's probably more manageable for the dev to use his own account for debugging or using the api tools, but if you wanted to set up your own app and have them use your app id and key for it- I don't see why they'd object it shouldn't be any skin off their back to use your id where you can control the settings

thanks, they're developing it now. When they're done is it easy to just transfer it to my account?
I mean does actual information come from there, like my customers info will go to my developers instead of me?
Or is it just a usability thing where its easier for users to log in with 1 click instead of filling out a form.

I just dont know if important data is being sent to the developers or not.
thanks

All in all it probably won't make much difference either way except that you'd be able to manage the app description, permissions, etc but it's possible it could be a pain in the ass for them later on if they need to change something like a permission or whatever the case may be

Depending on how they're doing and what the app actually does you will at the very least need to give the app id that is generated when you register the app with facebook which in some cases is public anyway.

Giving the app secret would give them more options to mess with things..

Of course if you want to really stretch your imagination their could be downsides to allowing them to develop for an app you registered, if they had your app secret they could technically do something that violates terms and it would be on behalf of an app you generated in which case you could be penalized for it

That is all hypothetical and theoretical. Overall I doubt it matters and might be an equal or larger pain in the ass if they end up having to change things

If you want, you can let them keep your domain in their account too.

wat?

the point of having the login would be for YOU to connect with the users FB account, not your developer. obviously, who ever you hired isn't the brightest, or you didn't specify which account to link it to so they just did what they wanted.

probably should get that fixed
