Anyone recommend screen cap software that works best with Youtube videos? I need crisp, clear, clean images. Something very easy to use.

Ideally, it should screencap then upload to imgur

Any suggestions?

There are multiple ways to do this. If you care most about quality you might install any one of many download managers that are browser plug-ins for Firefox or Chrome, then download the video at the highest resolution settings, then open it up in VLC Media Player and step through to the frame you want to screen cap that has no motion and looks good and use the screen cap function in VLC to create a large .png image file which you can then convert to a high quality .jpg.

You could also do it quick and dirty without downloading any Youtube videos by using the Print Screen or ALT-Print Screen key in Windows to paste that into MS Paint app that is installed on every Windows pc, then save it as a .jpg.

If you're using my second suggestion, you might have to turn down the hardware acceleration on your video card or built in video chip settings on your pc if the screen capture only captures a blank space in place of where the video image should be.

It would be possible to make a scraper to grab the videos, have ffmpeg take a series of screencaps say every five seconds, then toss it up to an admin page where someone can manually choose the best one. I'm sure a coder could rig something like this up quickly. Copyright issues ahead though if you use others' videos.
