Enom mother fuckers asking 250$ to renew a domain in "Extended RGP" status !!!

I never got an email about it ! The problem was, my credit card had expired. Received no emails about that too.
I found out by typing in the domain (checking in).

Did it ever happened to you ?
What did you do ?

Thanks

Had this happen to me on idotz.net years ago...

Cost me $169

I hadn't logged into my account in a long time so they "disabled" it even though I had domains with them... so I never got an email.. Then I noticed one of my sites parked..

What did I do?
I was soooo fucking pissed off, but had to "re-activate" my account and I paid the $169 illegal intentionally fraudulent extortion fee.

But, that's the last time I dealt with them.. made a notation that they ripped us off, and our 1,200+ domain names and the $10,000+ it cost each year are registered elsewhere and will never be anywhere near them..

Assholes... (apparently I am not the only one they did this same thing to.. among other shady practices.. surprised they are still in business).

ICANN charges a fee and said fee is then bubped by the registrar. You can risk it and try to catch it when it drops but eNom has a holding company that picks up a lot of theirs before they drop soo. Risk is the keyword here. I sold my first site and the buyer let it expire years later. eNom picked it up and sat on it for a few more years and eventually let it drop.

This is normal with every registrar, even for none .us .com .net .org domain names. This fee is rather larger but they did nothing wrong/illegal.

It may not be illegal but it ought to be. Things are too lax with domain registration redemption policies and fees. There ought to be:

1. Minimum of 30 days after expiration where you register the name again for the regular reg fee with any register.

2. Limit on the fee during the redemption period of something like 3 times the normal reg fee.

$250 is a ridiculous price and some registrars are constantly reducing the window for normal registration after expiration. I remember when with practically everyone it was a minimum of 30 days.

There is no reason why we should only be able to renew with the current registrar. If the current registrar is giving us a hard time we should be able to use another instead. Having it otherwise opens us up to bullshit games to steal the domain.

Domain expiry dates are not a secret and you don't have to wait until the last day to renew them. If you miss one, you only have yourself to blame.

I log into where I keep my domain name records every 1st Month, look at what is expiring that month and renew it. It is not rocket science.

If I had been stupid enough to let one of my domains expire, I would be glad that I had a chance to save it by paying a premium. It is a lot better than the alternative of seeing somebody else snap it up immediately it expires.
