That's right. They can do whatever they want. I'm just saying it makes them not very good at their craft.

You can't equate every job in existence to acting.

The job is playing make believe. Not doing morally unethical things -- which is what I'm assuming you mean by "uncomfortable" requests by an employer.

And I'm just saying that's pure bullshit. Every great actor you can think of has turned down roles for one reason or another. Tons have turned down roles because they aren't willing to do nude scenes, for example. You're saying that makes them "not very good at their craft", but Evil Knevil on a Jet bike couldn't make that leap, I'm not sure why you think you can.

It doesn't wash. Your 'point' is a non-starter. Multi-award winning OSCAR winners have turned down roles because they weren't comfortable with this thing or that. Some don't want their careers to be typecast. Has nothing at all to do with their acting ability, ie: how good they are at their craft.

Get it through your thick head. You're wrong.

Not at all.

Let's say you work at McDonald's. When you were hired you were told you will work the fry machine, make burgers, run the register, mop, sweep etc. One day you come in and they are putting a new roof on the place. The owner decided to save some money and do the work himself. So when you show up for work they tell you that you are going to be up on the roof tearing up shingles and helping re-roof the building. You aren't comfortable climbing 20 feet in the air and working on the roof. Should you have to? You are a McDonald's employee after all and this is technically doing something for the company.

Another example. You are a pornstar. You get hired to shoot a scene where you will bang some woman on a couch. Great. You accept the gig and show up for the shoot. When you arrive they tell you there has been a change of plans. They have decided to make it a bisexual threeway scene. You are still going to bang the girl, but you are also going to get blown by a guy and you have to jerk the other guy off. Should you still have to do this? Afterall, you are a pornstar. Your job is to fuck. What should it matter who you fuck?

It isn't like this guy sued them or even made a big deal out of the situation. They wanted him to have scenes where he would pretend to be gay and have a gay relationship. He didn't like the idea of that and was uncomfortable with it so he quit. Just like you should be able to quit any job if you are not comfortable with what the employer is asking you to do.

Okay, but porn is actual sex. Mainstream TV show is kissing at the most. It's not the same thing.

"it's his/her job so they suck at their job if they don't do something they aren't comfortable with"

l o l

I'm truly amazed at this line of thinking. They should be getting a round of applause for not just whoring themselves out for the money, and fucking off their own convictions. This is to be lauded, not derided.

Okay, let me simplify it for you.

You are a pornstar. You get hired to bang some girl in a scene. You show up for the scene and she smells nasty. She clearly hasn't showered in several days and her pussy smells like a four day old rotten tuna can that a Mariachi band has farted on for a solid week.

Should you have the right to say no, you aren't going to have sex with her even though that is what you were hired to do?

Oh believe me I know. :D

And no one is 'trying to make points with you'. Everyone is however trying to get you to pull your head out of your ass on this one point.

Ka-peesh?

We'll just have to agree to disagree then.

Keep in mind though that this wouldn't have even been an issue had the gay scenes been included in the original script. Anytime you change a job description after you make your hires, you gotta figure shit might happen.
