It seems like you are correct. Tumblr sites appear to be getting a boost in ranking and they are nothing but reposted stolen porn. At least they don't have full videos like tubes do.

Alright, this really sucks. My site survived all crazy Google updates. But this is time, I am fucked. Since yesterday I lost about 50% Google traffic. I was on page one for many search terms. Now I see only tumblr sites on the first pages. Even my competitors are gone.
And my content was unique. A good written blog with plenty of media.
Looks like I am going so start a few posts in buy-and-sell soon.

I increased my backlinks over a long time period. Did not get 1k backlinks in a short time.

true, but this time it are big jumps instead of the usual small jumps, so there's a big update going on.
It's not done yet, and having experience i'd say it is somewhere next week when it will be pretty much stabilized. Now is not yet the time to worry if you see a drop.

The disavow tool IMO was created to appease webmasters who worried about negative SEO and kept bothering google about it.
