Why does the U.S. want to respond the N Korean hacking?

Sony is a Japanese company. Why is the US, the one to respond?

Because the US government has a long and storied history of being the "World's Policeman". They will get involved in things abroad while ignoring domestic issues. And they will ram their version of "democracy" down the throats of countries where "democracy" won't work. Kind of like your mother making you take terrible tasting cough syrup when you have a sprained ankle.

That's why.

Why do we care is the question? 100 bucks says it is because people don't know it is a Japanese company.

The US acting as "World Police" is not a long history, matter of fact it is a very short one, for the vast majority of the life of this country we were staunch isolationists. That policy lasted up to WWII and even then many thought we should stay out of it.

From there to now corporate influence has had far more to do with our role on the world stage than anything else.

Kill all the fucking lobbyists would be a good start to fixing things in this country.

Demonsation - Rhetoric - Public Support - Invasion

Since first two steps are already taken care of long ago, we're at the "Public Support" stage. We just need a lot more media attention and articles like this:

BBC News - Sony hack: White House views attack as security issue

NORTH KOREA IS A SERIOUS NATIONAL THREAT!!!!

Then USA can go in and invade it without needing to worry about public opinion or polls.

So if Google is hacked in Germany by Iran, Germany would get all upset and go after Iran? I am sure Google has a German corporation or whatever the equivalent is.

When determining the nationality of a company, don't we just go by the parent?

And as if the bombing wasn't enough, how about the concentration camps built within the US to house US citizens who happened to be of Japanese descent. The Feds took away their homes, businesses, property and put them in fucking concentration camps (please, someone start the argument that they were "interment" camps and all done in the name of security). And many were US CITIZENS!!!

And don't get me started on how Pearl Harbor was a defacto false flag operation. Roosevelt knew it was coming and let it happen.

So you would keep a potential domestic threat on an honour system then would you? You would make a shitty leader..

62% of those locked away in camps were US citizens, some second and third generation.

So US Citizenship is valued situationally? The Bill of Rights means nothing? Throw the Constitution out when it doesn't mesh with your agenda?

So you would have no problem rounding up second and third generation Arabs with US. Citizenship and put them in a concentration camp and take away their property, businesses, jobs, not to mention their rights as US citizens? For a POTENTIAL domestic threat.

I bet you're one of the guys who gladly takes off their shoes and belts for the TSA because "it's for security" - it must be good for us. The leaders tell us so.

You would make a shitty human being.

US thrives on war, they're in too deep. They have to keep up their worldwide power and money grabbing operation, the point of no return has been passed a long time ago.

They probably don't even know how to mind their own business and not start wars.

Details, details. Why kill a good USA-bashing with facts? If America just shrugs it off and turns a blind eye it's not as if anyone is actually getting away with censoring a movie through terroristic threats, is it? It's not as if other movies in the future can't be shut down in a similar manner by others if the bad ol' US caves on this one is it? An entire industry isn't really being held hostage, are they?

Nooo, of course not.

Let slapass & co have their moment to shine. So far they're doing great.

I say run the movie. Let these so-called hackers do whatever it is they think they can do to moviegoers. After a few dozen blownup theatres and thousands dead I'm sure the USA critics and haters in this thread will tone it down.

Why war even has to enter into the discussion is beyond me.

Seriously, run the movie. I'd love to see what all the fuss is about. I honestly had no idea Seth Rogen's foolishness had such threatening political teeth.

So the US should stand up for every injustice? The rest of the free world thinks what? My question is why is it a US issue? Is Japan planning their response?

you know, in the case of NORKOR, the answer is simple... they are already backed against a wall. what could we really do to NORKOR that would effectively punish them more, but not harm ourselves?

Invade them? to what end? would cost american lives and money.

sanction them more? to what end. if you take away everything from them, they will surely do something out of desparation, costing more american lives and money.

there is just so little left for us to punish them with, that doesnt cost us much much more to achieve.

China for instance, on the other hand... we have PLENTY to punish them with. I dont know what the fuck is wrong with our government regarding them...Steal our technology? ok, you just bought it at retail rate.

hack and steal weapons systems? pay for it.

how? we owe them trillions in national debt. good way to chip away at that. I suspect chinese will stop stealing our stuff when we start withholding payments.

You seem to be missing the the fucking obvious ..ie you can't see the forrest for the trees..

Sony entertianment was not hacked. Sony pictures was. That is a US based company which produces movies in the US. The hack targeted people and places inside the U.S. not in fucking Japan. Japan has nothing to do with it outside the fact they own the parent company.

Added bonus is it wasn't some random group of 12 year old pimple face hackers, it's pretty obvious this was state sponsored by North Korea. This puts it at a different level, not to mention the U.S. would be involved anyway because it's a crime that targeted people and places on US soil not Japan. (Really you can't be this dumb to not understand this can you)

I can see that you can't get past your need to bash the U.S. over everything you can think of, but please at least use some common fucking sense and learn about the most basic facts before you continue to bitch and moan about something you clearly don't understand.

It was an attack in the USA on a US company Sony Pictures and direct threats were made against Americans and American business and they threatened further attacks.

Why is that so hard for you to understand?

If someone blows up a Credit Suisse branch in Iceland, it's a Swiss problem only and Iceland has nothing to say about it? A crime was committed in Iceland and is treated as such.

You can't possibly be that dense.

You are absolutely spot on.

I think he is hell-bent on being hell-bent.

But to give him a little room because the media has not presented the facts very well on this as well as many other issues. That's what merger and acquisition brings us in the news and entertainment world. It's not a wonder there are so many conspiracy theorist out there.
Those that can not compete buy those that can. Funny that I can read better reporting overseas for now (till they buy them out also).
