yet another ecig thread

I kicked my 20 year habit a couple of months back but I've encountered a problem: I've purchased literally every single cartridge on this island that fits the current ecig I use, and the only other type offered here keeps breaking on me so I don't waste my $$$$ buying them.

I want to order a new ecig that doesn't use a replaceable cartridge system, but rather can be topped up with liquid nicotine (that I can find locally in abundance). I also want to buy one that won't break on me within days of using it

Right now I'm looking at Vaporizer Pen with E Liquid Cartridge - Series 3 Kit | V2.com, since the mail here sucks (average delivery time by regular mail is between 3 and 6 months) I plan to get it fedexed in with a few additional cartridges and buy the liquid locally as I go. Have any of y'all ever used this brand, and if so did you find it held up well? Are there any other top brands that are e-liguid based that are known for durability that you'd recommend?

I've read through the existing ecig threads here but a lot of them seem to be recommending replaceable cartridge-style brands, and I don't want to have to keep fedexing in new cartridges as I go

so yeah, any advice or recs would be appreciated, gracias in advance

it doesn't sound like you "kicked" anything, you just traded one method of servicing your addiction for another.

the addiction itself remains.

my as an ex 35 year smoker

the link in your sig is the one I'm looking at right now, do you have any experience with it as a user? I don't really care how effective it is from an aff perspective, I just don't want to buy something that will break on me

we all have our vices. some consume nicotine, some get off on judging others . I've kicked cigarettes so I consider than an accomplishment, if you don't feel the same that's all good. congrats on your 35 years

any recs from peeps who use these liquid-based products would greatly appreciated (blu cig and greensmoke are out because they use cartridges). gracias in advance

that makes some sense. two things I liked about the V2 when I first came across it are that:

a) you gotta click the button to get any vapor. the first ecig I used to use (the one that kept breaking on me) worked like that and I found half the time I'd just inhale without even pushing the button, so I got the psychological benefit without actually inhaling any vapor. that worked out great during long hours at the computer

b) you can customize orders and buy more than one refillable cartridge at a time (I'd prob buy a few just in case)

I'm still in the decision phase but if I do end up going with the V2 I'll use your ref link, thanks for taking the time to reply

us quitters do tend to get a bit holier-than-thou about it, no judgement intended

I quit my 35 year habit cold turkey 4 years ago and it was honestly one of the hardest things I've ever done... hell giving up crack was easier.

I still feel the attraction, but it gets a little less every day.

thanks for taking the time to post. I checked em out, I'm not too crazy about the Itaste design (it doesn't look very comfortable to use) but that Nautilus one looks awesome. It looks durable and the wickless/bottom coil feature is apparently a good thing (I've learned far too much about the devices today). I also like that it comes with extra atomizers

plus, they ship internationally

seriously, thank you! I now have a new front runner

But according to an analysis published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, the exposure to formaldehyde from e-cigarettes, based on similar chronic use as tobacco, could be five to 15 times higher than from smoking cigarettes.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to quit those too.

Trading cigs for liquid nicotine sounds like trading aspirin for crack.

no offense taken I feel the same way when I see peeps inhale fast food; like how can they put that ish into their bodies? I don't judge 'em but the point is we all have or hang-ups, and yeah they emerge from time to time.

For real though, I meant what I wrote with my congrats on 35 years smoke free-that's a tremendous accomplishment.

for sure ecigs aren't 'health neutral', most things that are chemically satisfying are in some way dangerous. like I mentioned above with a non-cartridge ecig I use it only when I need it, and inhale pure air to get the psychological pay-off most of the time. My point is that the inhalation of formaldehyde (which is present in real cigs anyways alongside tasty tar and tolulene) is better than smoking cig after cig just because it's a habit.

you can say that but truth is after kicking the 'real thing' I can do a full Insanity Max workout plus a p90x kenpo 'cool down' without losing my breath. I could NEVER do that before. I'm not positioning ecigs are some sort of health supplement, they are a crutch for a toxic addiction for fuck's sake.

The point is I went from 2 packs a day to nada. That's a start. It will take me some time to wean down completely to zilch in terms of nicotine consumption but in the interim? I'd argue that it's better than not trying to kick at all. That's where I'd be without ecigs.

I appreciate your thoughts but I will quit everything nicotine-related without gaining an ounce. Ecigs are helping me do that.
The health risks (while real) are lower than they would be if I stuck to Export A's/Marlies.

I'll kick ecigs too, the point is that with ecigs it's easier to control/limit nicotine delivery as one moves through the process.

I appreciate the feedback though and you're both right; vaping is harmful too and non-smokers have no need for the product.
